Requirements<br />

Members “in-training” may participate in boat operations or other related<br />

operational activities as trainees. A trainee shall not be used as a<br />

substitute for a certified member of a boat crew, boarding team, or duty<br />

section.<br />

The appropriate competency code is assigned and entry made in the<br />

individual’s personnel record when they have met the requirements set<br />

forth in this Manual and are certified by the CO/OIC. The CO/OIC is<br />

responsible to ensure the PERSRU/unit Yeoman will make an entry in<br />

Direct Access.<br />

The CO/OIC shall take appropriate action when members do not<br />

maintain a current qualification/certification or fail to meet recurrent<br />

training minimums. Whenever personnel are encountered who, after a<br />

reasonable amount of time, are unable to qualify for boat crew duties,<br />

administrative action should be taken.<br />

Any failure to maintain currency requirements or loss of certification<br />

should be documented in the E-Training system. Failure to certify within<br />

the unit prescribed time frame should be documented by other<br />

administrative means.<br />

If the unit has a requirement for an OOD, job qualification requirements<br />

(JQR) shall address the following:<br />

(01) Unit operations, including SAR, LE, RBS, MS, PWCS.<br />

(02) Unit Area of Operation.<br />

(03) Boat operations.<br />

(04) Unit/facility emergencies (e.g. fire, bomb scare, civil unrest).<br />

(05) Duty section daily routine.<br />

(06) Public affairs and community affairs.<br />

(07) The Station OOD shall successfully complete SAR School or the<br />

SAR Fundamentals correspondence course.<br />

All unit personnel tasked with boarding team responsibilities shall be<br />

guided by the requirements specified herein.<br />

Prospective Boarding Team Members (BTMs) and Boarding Officers<br />

(BOs) shall complete the LECQI tasks as prescribed in Reference (tt).<br />
