Chapter 2 – Mission Planning<br />

I.4.a. Duties of<br />

the SERA<br />

The SERA shall:<br />

(01) Act as mentor and leader for Reservists assigned.<br />

(02) Plan and schedule all Reservists’ IDT, ADT, RMP drills. This<br />

shall take into account each members Individual Development<br />

Plan (IDP) and Individual Training Plan (ITP).<br />

(03) Ensure all Reservists comply with participation and readiness<br />

standards as well as competency certifications.<br />

(04) Maintain appropriate contact with the CO/OINC to ensure<br />

effective coordination of the schedule and training of Reservists.<br />

(05) In conjunction with the command cadre and the Reserve Section<br />

Leader (RSL), establish reserve duty sections in which reserve<br />

boat crews are assigned for one or more weekends a month.<br />

I.4.b. Duties of<br />

the Reserve<br />

Section Leader<br />

The Reserve Section Leader (RSL) shall:<br />

(01) Ensure the reserve duty section(s) accomplishes all scheduled<br />

training or activities.<br />

(02) Work with the unit Training Petty Officer (TPO) to ensure<br />

reserve training is part of the unit training plan.<br />

(03) See that all necessary resources (day-workers, auxiliarists, and<br />

boats, trainers) are coordinated for planned drill weekends.<br />

(04) Establish and communicate a Plan of the Day that describes the<br />

planned activities for the weekend drill(s).<br />

RSL’s are usually BMC’s. If there is no BMC availability, another CPO<br />

or higher (including the SERA) may fill this role.<br />

Each station shall have at least one RSL.<br />

NOTE<br />

RSL’s shall regularly get underway with each of their crews to ensure effective<br />

training is taking place.<br />
