THE REPRESENTATION OF SALTA'S HISTORYTeresita del Milagro Gutiérrez – Argentina“In current society the function of Science diffusion lies not only on the informationsuperficial contact (implying a mechanical conception of a subject considered as apassive and receptive in regard of knowledge) pretends generate changes in thebehavior which implies comprehension, conservation or transformation in conceptualparadigms that the individual has in order to realize the construction of knowledge anapplies adapting the several types of stages. The multistage characteristics inside adiffusion activity in which can be approached the Sciences that seeks educate, allowsto recreate a permanent contact with scientific activity, no matter where the socioculturalstage is in which the topic develops: a school, a street, a home, etc.” 1A museum.... and this is the stage of socio-cultural of informal education that we willobserve, as an specific place for diffusion of researches reached by the regionalHistography. In particular, we will consider two museums of Salta: The Historical Museum sited inthe Cabildo of Salta; and the “Traditions and Customs”, placed in President JoséEvaristo Uriburu's House. In the first, we go round ten thousands years of localhistory, in the second, the traditions and customs of a social class from Salta at thebeginning of the XIX century. In both cases, they shows only one possibleinterpretation for a long time, referring to a romantic past and legitimated byHistoriography from more than forty or fifty years.During the first years of the XXI century, we feel the need to raise the necessity toshow the visitors'museums and consider their opinion, all the cultural background andthe new researches from this province that have been contributing during this years. We are acknowledge that several local researchers are developing works, recognizednationally and internationally (for example: Sara Mata de López, Emma Raspi, GabrielaCaretta, Rubén Correa, etc), who have published and constantly publishing theirhistoriographies discoveries. From one of these authors we read: “...in the last thirty years the historical researchhas shown the complexity of the American rural world approaching from a regionalperspective the agrarian areas, the role and the characteristics of Spanish-Americanfarm, thus the agrarian community of rural production, the importance of commercialcapitals in it, the systems of rural work and the relation between the farms and urbanemarket, among other topics”. 2However, these among other topics we do not see reflected as speeches or supports ofexpositions in Salta 's Historical Museums. So, we understand that we are in front of a big challenge. We believe is time that thosemuseums show, considering to their visitors, the current researches and with thisprovide others perspectives of our local history. And going back to the first paragraph, we interpret we should make a change toprovide a constant educational service to the public that visit us, giving them thediscoveries of new conceptual paradigms.Taking into account several voices from researchers the cultural heritage, who havealready expressed their interests for some time now, such as the architect CarlosMoreno: “...The American man, the Argentinean man must have as one of thisfundamental rights the acknowledgement and spiritual enjoyment of his roots based in1 Martínez, J.R., Orellana-Moreno o. y Aguilera Ontiveros A., Modelo Multiescénico para la divulgación dela ciencia como herramienta de comunicación, reported shown to I Congreso sobre comunicación socialde la ciencia.
