Fruit production has been directed towards apple, peach and cherry. Our region has very
suitable soil and climate conditions to grow up grapes that are convenient for wine
production Ilgar, R., (2000). The amount of production is almost 10 000 tone in a year.
Çanakkale and the neighbourhood covers the migration roads of the fish, which moves
in the reverse direction following the egg season, from the Blacksea that is an important
fish watercourse to Marmara and Mediterranean, related with the climate changes. The
fish production in the region is approximately 5.925.907 kg in a year. Besides, almost
56 tone brook fish such as carp, trout, eel and moustached are breaded.
Education:
The literacy rate in Çanakkale shows a continuous increase for both sexes, like it
is for the whole country. While 37% of males and 17.4% of females were literate in
1935, this rate increased to 93ç7 % in males and 85% in females in 2000. Even though
the literacy rate of females has increased more rapidly than that of the males, a
difference between sexes still exists. The youngest age that the 8 years (primary)
education can be completed is age 14. That is why, while examining the at least primary
education graduate population, the 14 years of age and over population has been
considered. In 1975-2000 periods, the ratio of at least primary education graduates was
12.2% for males and 4.8% for females in 1975, this ratio increased to 38% for males ad
23%for males and approximately 29.2% of females, 14% of males have completed one
of the education levels higher than primary school in 2000. As for higher education, 7
faculty, 10 college, 2 institutions which belong to the constitution of Çanakkale Onsekiz
Mart University contribute to the socio-cultural development of the city.
Medical Report:
The Health Service in the city, is given by the help of 9 hospitals nine of which
are connected with the SSK (Social Insurance Institution) and 1 of which is private; 55
health homes and 192 health houses.
