The final question was related with the evaluation approaches that they use in<br />

making decisions about their sportsmen’s improvements. All of the experts could not<br />

give detailed and systematic information about the evaluation of one’s technique. They<br />

claimed that they asked their archers to shoot from 30 m and had information about their<br />

achievements.<br />

2.3. Instructor Interview Results<br />

Three instructors were interviewed about their archery courses. Like the interview with<br />

the archery experts, there were four main topics in the interviewing procedure in<br />

instructor interview. The results of these interviews were summarized below. The first<br />

instructor categorized his course objectives for beginners as;<br />

1. To recognize and select appropriate archery equipment.<br />

2. To understand the rules and scoring procedures.<br />

3. To describe the technique for stringing the bow.<br />

4. To describe the steps involved in shooting.<br />

5. To identify and use proper safety procedures.<br />

6. To recognize and use the archery terms correctly.<br />

The second instructor listed her main objectives in teaching archery to beginners as;<br />

1. To present the history, equipment, safety, shooting techniques and<br />

psychological aspects of archery.<br />

2. To present safety techniques for beginning archers.<br />

3. To develop correct shooting form.<br />

The third instructor made a long list of his objectives.<br />

1. To identify the finger tab, stringer, arm guard, quiver, the components of the<br />

arrow, and the components of a recurve bow.<br />

2. To define the following terms: recurve bow, end, round, high anchor, and low<br />

anchor.<br />

3. To specify the score for each ring on a target.<br />

4. To demonstrate how to string and unstring the bow.<br />

5. To demonstrate proper form when shooting by coming to a complete draw,<br />

anchoring properly, and releasing smoothly.<br />

6. To analyze the shooting form of self and others, account for errors, and apply<br />

corrective measures.<br />

7. To describe and demonstrate how to use safe shooting procedures on archery<br />

range.<br />

8. To demonstrate how to remove properly an arrow from the target and from the<br />

grass.<br />

9. To shoot a round with some degree of success (50 percent of the point total<br />

possible).<br />

Analyzing responses to the interview questions of three different instructors, it<br />

can be seen some overlapping parts in all of the approaches. They all talk about some<br />

introductory knowledge on archery. These are historical development of archery,<br />

definition of archery terminology, information about the archery equipments like arrows,
