The State has the capacity to support major manufacturing and service
industries such as power supply (Edo State Government, 2010). As a general
rule, the EDSG does not take shareholding stakes of more than 20 percent in
commercial enterprise. Instead, it helps to facilitate the establishment of
industrial estates by allocating plots of land to private investors.
1.4.7 International Agreements and Conventions
Nigeria is a signatory to a number of international conventions and
agreements relating to industry, development and environmental
management. In certain cases conventions and agreements have influenced
policy, guidelines and regulations and must be complied with during the
planning, construction and operation of the Project.
Table 1.4 lists some of the key relevant international conventions and protocols
to which Nigeria is a signatory. Each convention is briefly described
thereafter.

To achieve stabilisation of greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere at
a level that would prevent dangerous anthropogenic interference with the
climate system.
