F. Skylights must be certified by the NFRC.
G. Skylights must be certified by the NAFS.
H. Smoke Hatch/Smoke Venting Skylights must be Factory Mutual approved.
2.05 INSPECTION
A. Firestone will conduct a “First Article Inspection” of vendor’s formal submission from a
representative production batch/run. This inspection includes subjecting the submission to full
QA/QC and physical testing (including dimensions), as well as examination of all packaging,
labeling and lot numbering.
B. Firestone reserves the right to sample any material shipped and test any provision of the
referenced product specification at any time.
2.06 PACKAGING AND MARKING
A. Each dome shall be marked with a small 2” x 1-1/2” label on the aluminum frame. See attachment.
B. Skylight daylighting components shall be carefully packaged on wooden skids.
PART 3 EXECUTION
3.01 EXAMINATION
A. Prior to beginning work of this section, an authorized representative shall examine the associated
support structure to determine that it is properly prepared and ready to received the skylight work
included herein. No installation shall proceed until any discrepancies have been resolved.
3.02 PREPARATION
A. Aluminum surfaces in contact with masonry, concrete or dissimilar materials, if not organically
coated, shall be given a heavy coat of zinc chromate or bituminous paint.
3.03 INSTALLATION
A. Skylight installation shall be the sole responsibility of the General Contractor in strict accordance
with the skylight manufacturer instructions.
B. Install skylights plumb, true without warping or racking of panels.
C. Anchor system in strict accordance with manufacturer’s instruction.
D. During erection, provide for thermal movement with a minimum ambient air temperature shift of
100 0 Farenheight without creating undue stresses.
E. Apply sealant where required by manufacturer. Before application, clean surfaces as
recommended by manufacturer.
3.04 TOLERANCES
A. All parts of the work, when completed, shall be within the following tolerances:
1. Maximum variation from plane or location shown on approved shop drawings: 1/8” per 12
