did, and went abroad with them, where he continu'd<br />

Wight, Mrs. Hayes took the Opportunity of going over<br />

thither, and continu'd with him for fome Time, till<br />

Mr. Hayes, not content with fuch a lazy, indolent Life,,<br />

gratifying his Wife, follicitcd his Father to procure his<br />

Difcharge, which at length he was prevailed upon to-<br />

the better to induce him to fettle himfelf in Bufmefs in<br />

the Country, put him into an Eftate of 10 /. per Annmn,<br />

hoping that, with the Benefit of his Trade, would en-<br />

able them to live handfomely and creditably, and change<br />

lier roving Inclinations,- he being fenfible that his Son's<br />

Ramble had been occafion'd thro' his Wife's Perfuafions,<br />

But Mr. John Hayes repreftnting to his Father, that<br />

it was not poiTible for him and his Wife to live on that ..<br />

Eflate only, perfuaded his Father to let him have ano-<br />

ther alfo, a Leafehold of 16/. per Ann. upon which he<br />

liv'd during the continuance of the Lcafe, his Father<br />

paying the annual Rent thereof till it expir'd.<br />

The Charafters of Mr. John Hayes and his Wife<br />

were vaftly different; he had the repute of a fober, fe-<br />

date, honeft, quiet, peaceable Man, and a very good.<br />
