above a Year before, the Murder was committed. That
it ivas no more Sin to kill him (meaning her Huftand)
than to kill a mad Hog, and that one Time or other /he
might give him a Pok.
Afterwards they remov'd into Tottenham-Court-Road,
where they liv'd for fome Time, following the Bufinefs
as formerly, from whence about two Years after they
remov'd into Tyhum-Road, a few Doors above where
the Murder was committed.
There they liv'd about 12 Months, Mr. Hayes fup-
porting himfelf chiefly in lending out Money upon
rledges, and fometimes working at his Profeffion, and
in Husbandry, till he was computed to have pick'd up
a pretty handfome Sum of Money.
About 10 Months after they remov'd from thence a
little lower in the fame Road, to the Houfe of Mr.
Whinyard, where tile Murder was afterwards commit-
ted, having taking Lodgings there up two Pair of Stairs.
'I'vvas at the before-mention'd Place Thomas Billings,
by Trade a Taylor, whp work'd Journey Work in and
about Monmouth-Jireet, being Mrs. Hayes''i Countryman,
came to fee them, they invited hiia to lodge with
them, which he agreed to, and continu'd fo to do.
Mr. Hayes going out of Town for fome Da\'s, im-
mediately feveral of Mrs. Hayeses Friends or Acquain-
tance took the Opportunity to come there to fee her in
her Hufband's Abfence, and continu'd there revelling
till juft before his expefted Return.
Upon his Arrival in Town, hearing thereof, he ex-
poftulated the Reafon with her, and why ftie gave her-
felf fuch uncommon Liberties; how far her Anfwer
might provoke him to refent it we cannot juftly fay,
but fome pafllonate Expreffions occafion'd high Words,
and a Blow or two pafied betwixt them upon that Ac-
count, about fix Weeks before the Murder was com-
mitted.
Whether this Difference might augment her Defires
to get rid of him, or whether 'twas before abfolutely re-
•folv'd upon, is uiicertain, this however we are affur'dj
