John Shepparil, of the Parifh of St. Martins in the<br />

Fields, was indifted for breaking the Houfe of William<br />

Philips, and ftealing divers Goods, the 14th o'i February,<br />

but there not being fufEcient Evidence againft the Pri-<br />

foner he was acquitted.<br />

He was indifted a fecond Time, of St. Clement<br />

Danes, for breaking tlie Houfe of Mary Cook, the 5th<br />

of Fehiuary, and ftealing divers Goods, but the Evi-<br />

dence againft the Prifoner being deficient as to this In-<br />

diclment alfo, he was acquitted.<br />

He was indifted a third Time, of St. Mary Sa-voy,<br />

for breaking the Houfe of William Kneebone, in the<br />

Night Time, and ftealing 108 Yards of WoUen Cloth,<br />

the I 2th of Juh).<br />

The Profecutor depofed. That the Prifoner had fome<br />

Time fince been his Servant, and when he went to Bed,<br />

tiie Time menfion'd in the Indiftment, about 11<br />

o'clock at Night, he faw all the Doors and Windows<br />

found his Houfe broke open, the Bars of the Cellar<br />

that comes up Stairs drawn, and the Padlock wrench'd<br />

off, and the Shutter in the Shop broken, and his Goods<br />

gone, v/hereupon fufpeiSing the Prifoner, he having<br />

committed ill Aftions thereabouts before, he acquainted<br />

Jonathan Wild v/ith it, and he procur'd liim to be ap-<br />

prehended. That he went to the Prifoner in New-Pri-<br />

fon, and afking how he could be fo ungrateful to rob<br />

him after Jie had Jhown him fo much Kindiiefs.? The<br />
