About the latter End of the fame Month ^une, Mr.,<br />

Kneebone, a Wcolkn-Draper rear the Nexv-Church in the<br />

Strand, receiv'd a Caution from the Father of Jnthony<br />

Lamb, who intimated to Mr. Kneebone that his Iloufe<br />

was intended to be broke open and robb'd that very<br />

Night. Mr. Kneebone prepared for the Event, ord'red<br />

his Servants to fit up, and gave Direftions to the-<br />

Watchman in the Street to obferve his Houfe ; at about<br />

two in the Morning, Sheppard zwd his Gang were about<br />

the Door, a Maid Servant went to liften, and heard one<br />

of the Wretches fay. Damn him, if they could not enter<br />

that Night they nxould another, and 'would have 300 1.<br />

nf his (meaning Mr. Kneebone'^ Money) they went off,<br />

and nothing more was heard of them till Sunday the<br />

12th Day of July following, when Jofeph Blake alias<br />

Blenvskin, 'John Sheppard, and William Field, (as him-<br />

felf fwore) came about 12 o'Clock at Night, and cut<br />

two large Oaken Bars over the Cellar Window, at the<br />

back Part of the Houfe in Little Drury-Lane, and fo<br />

entered, Mr. Kneebone and his Farrilly being at Reft,<br />

they proceeded to open a Door at the Foot of the Cel-<br />

lar Stairs, with three Bolts, and a large Padlock upon<br />

it, and tiien came up into the Shop and wrench'd ofF<br />

the Hafp and Padlock that went over the Prefs, and ar-<br />

riv'd at their defir'd Booty; they continu'd in the<br />

Houfe three Hours, and carry'd off with them one<br />

hundred and eight Yards of Broad WoUen Cloth, five<br />

Yards of blue Bays, a light Tie Wig, and a Beaver Hat,<br />

tv/o Silver Spoons, a Handkerchief, and a Penknife, in<br />

all to the Value of 50 /.<br />

The Sunday following, being the 19th of July,<br />

Sheppard and Blsivjkin were out upon the Hampfiead<br />

Road, and there ftopt a Coach with a L:idies Woman<br />

in it, from whom they took but Half a Crown, all<br />

the Money then about her, the Footman behind the<br />

Coach came down and exerted himfelf, but Shefpard<br />

feet
