courfe we pafled the Time, and were got to her Mo-<br />

ther's before we were aware, and having unwillingly<br />

taken my Leave went Home, but could not fleep for the<br />

laft Nights Adventure, being fo deeply fixed in my<br />

Heart, I got up early and wrote the following Letter.<br />

Fairejl of your Sex,<br />

' TJErmit me to lay at your Feet a Heart entirely de-<br />

' Jt vouted to your Beauty, and which is incapable<br />

' of any other Paffion than Love, unlefs you by Cruelty<br />

' caufe Grief to ufurp his Throne. But Hay, I am go-<br />

' ing to difpofe of what I have not ; m.y Heart fled<br />

' from me laft Night, and has taken Refuge in your<br />

' Breaft ; I do not envy it, but would participate with<br />

' its Happinefs, which is fo infinite, as were I a King<br />

' I wou'd leave my Dignity to enjoy with you in a<br />

' Cottage. O! don't frown upon me, leall you there-<br />

' by kill me, who only defires to live to convince you,<br />

' how much he is your Adorer, and humble Slave.'<br />

To this I had no Anfwer, and going to my Friend<br />

I afked his Advice how I Ihould proceed, for I was but<br />

a Novice in an Affair of this Nature, and he knew not<br />
