if polTible, to fee how thefe Gentry were prepar'd for<br />

fuch an Undertaking, they very foon crofTed a Stile<br />

into the Road to Hod/don, they were both pretty lufty<br />

Feilows, and each had on his Shoulder a large Hedge<br />

Stake ; upon which I call'd to the f,!!, who coming<br />

to me, I clapp'd my Piftol to his Breaii, obliging him<br />

to throw away his Weapon and deliver his Money,<br />

which was about Three-pence Half-penny; I then<br />

called to his Comprnion, and ferv'd him the fame<br />

Sauce, who had about Four-pence ; I then laughed at<br />

them a little, gave them their Money again, and rode<br />

off about my Bufinefs.<br />

I fometime after return'd to Finchky-Canmon, where<br />

I met the Northampton Stage Coach, from which I<br />

took about 15 or 16 /. and one Gold, and three Sil-<br />

ver Watches; then I return'd Home, the Day being<br />

pretty far fpent, and I well contented with the Succefs<br />

of it, r
