Removing temporary files<br />

When you view <strong>Domino</strong>.<strong>Doc</strong> files using the Explorer, a browser, or the<br />

Notes client, <strong>Domino</strong>.<strong>Doc</strong> creates read-only copies of the files and stores<br />

them in a temporary file area on the local file system. You can clean up your<br />

local file system by deleting these read-only files periodically.<br />

Note You do not need to remove the temporary files that <strong>Domino</strong>.<strong>Doc</strong><br />

creates when you are working with <strong>Domino</strong>.<strong>Doc</strong> integrated applications;<br />

<strong>Domino</strong>.<strong>Doc</strong> automatically removes these temporary files when you close<br />

the documents.<br />

Procedure<br />

To remove temporary files from the local file system:<br />

1. Open the <strong>Domino</strong>.<strong>Doc</strong> Desktop Administrator.<br />

The Administrator displays the current <strong>Domino</strong>.<strong>Doc</strong> settings.<br />

2. From the Settings menu, choose Clean Up Temp Space.<br />

<strong>Domino</strong>.<strong>Doc</strong> displays a message box to request confirmation.<br />

3. To delete the files, click OK.<br />

Changing the <strong>Domino</strong>.<strong>Doc</strong> temporary directory locations<br />

<strong>Domino</strong>.<strong>Doc</strong> stores the file you access during a work session in a temporary<br />

directory installed as a subdirectory of <strong>Domino</strong>.<strong>Doc</strong>. If you’d like to change<br />

the location of this temporary directory for HTTP access, you can do so by<br />

editing a <strong>Domino</strong>.<strong>Doc</strong> registry entry. If you’d like to change the location of<br />

this temporary directory for Notes access, you can do so by editing a<br />

NOTES.INI entry.<br />

Procedure for HTTP:<br />

To change the location of the temporary directory for HTTP access, perform<br />

the following steps:<br />

1. Click the Windows Start button.<br />

2. Click Run.<br />

3. Type “regedit” in the window.<br />

4. Click OK.<br />

5. Expand the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.<br />

6. Expand SOFTWARE.<br />

7. Expand <strong>Lotus</strong>.<br />

8. Expand <strong>Domino</strong>.<strong>Doc</strong> Desktop Enabler.
