The induction of secondary dormancy by false flax (Camelina <strong>sa</strong>tiva L.) in<br />

water stress conditions<br />

Summary<br />

The light and soil water content deficiency belong to factors, which influence the induction of<br />

secondary dormancy by false flax (Camelina <strong>sa</strong>tiva L.) and other seeds of oilseed plants. The<br />

influence of different values of water potentials (-0.2; -0.5; -1.0; -1.5; -2.0; -2.5 and -3.0<br />

MPa) on induction of secondary dormancy in seeds of three cultivars of false flax (Lindo,<br />

Calena a Ligena). Water stress was simulated with solutions of polyethylene glycol (PEG<br />

6000). The evaluated seeds were from harvest in the year of 2004 in the conditions of<br />

ecological farming. In our trials was found the influence of different values of water potential<br />

on the germination dynamics by false flax. The proportions of dormant seeds were from 0.25<br />

to 24.5 % in the dependence of values of water potential. The number of dormant seeds<br />

differed significantly also among cultivars.<br />
