Accumulation of deoxynivalenol (DON) in kernels selected cultivars of winter wheat
after artificial inoculation with Fusarium culmorum
Key words: winter wheat, Fusarium head blight, deoxynivalenol
Summary
Twelve registred cultivars of winter wheat cultivated in Slovak country were inoculated with
isolate of Fusarium culmorum and investigated on content DON in kernels. The AUDPC
(area under disease progress curve), % fusarium-damaged kernels, yield loss a DON content
in kernels were determined. The results indicated high variability in DON content between
cultivars. The cultivar Alka resistant to the infection with Fusarium culmorum showed
relatively lower DON content and cultivar Vanda showed high DON content in two years.
Were obtained the closest relationships (r = 0,80**, 0,74**) between the AUDPC and the
DON content in kernels and between % fusarium-damaged kernels and DON content (r =
0,92**, 0,70**).
