The effect of media composition on growth of grapevine
plantlets during in vitro thermotherapy

The use of in vitro thermotherapy of grapevines with subsequent isolation of apical
segments is contingent on growth of plants on media in 37 o C temperature conditions. To
obtain virus-free segments is possible only from plants, which actively grow in these
conditions. The presence of the growth regulators in media has significant influence on
growth of plants. The present study deals with evaluation of growth of plants and their death
rate during thermotherapy on three multiplication and one rooting media. The results show,
that the best medium for in vitro thermotherapy of grapevines is MS with 0.7 mg.l -1 BA, 0.1
mg.l -1 IAA and 0.55% of agar. The use of rooting media turned up negative for in vitro
thermotherapy.
