Inhalt: The course Water economics provides an introduction into the economics
of water use and water resource management. The following topics will be covered:
The fundamentals of water supply and water utilization against the background
of a limited availability of and increasing pressure on water resources world- wide,
input-output evaluation methods, water as a public versus private good, institutions
and payment/funding systems for eective water supply and water utilization,
the role of water-related policies such as the EU-water directives. The course will
be supplemented with case studies from developing countries , describing water resource
management programs, their objectives, scale, implementation challenges, and
eects.

Bemerkungen: The course will be held in English. Exam students are free to choose
between English and German. In der ersten Vorlesungswoche (KW 14) entfällt die
Veranstaltung wegen der Vorstellung der Vertiefungsfächer.
