Inhalt: This block seminar (no credits) will cover a new series of lectures on selected<br />
topics from the eld of development, environmental and trade economics. The<br />
lectures which will be based on most current research papers will give deep insights<br />
into specic methodologies like conjoint analysis and survey sampling, and selected<br />
topics like the economics of eco-labelling, as well as other trade and environmental<br />
issues. Profs. Basu and Hicks have both published widely in the elds of development<br />
and environmental economics, and international trade. Apart from discussing most<br />
recent research papers, students may want to use this opportunity to nd out more<br />
about the American university system and studying and living in the USA.<br />

Inhalt: Das Seminar ist eine Gemeinschaftsveranstaltung für Studierende des Faches<br />
Entwicklungsökonomik und der beiden ökonomischen Prüfungsfächer im Studium<br />
Gartenbauwissenschaften. Die Studierenden sollen zu einem Thema einen 30 minütigen<br />
Vortrag halten, der anschlieÿend diskutiert wird. Für die erfolgreiche Teilnahme<br />
(Hausarbeit, Vortrag, regelmäÿige Teilnahme an der Diskussion) wird ein Schein erteilt.<br />
