Inhalt: The course Water economics provides an introduction into the economics<br />
of water use and water resource management. The following topics will be covered:<br />
The fundamentals of water supply and water utilization against the background<br />
of a limited availability of and increasing pressure on water resources world- wide,<br />
input-output evaluation methods, water as a public versus private good, institutions<br />
and payment/funding systems for eective water supply and water utilization,<br />
the role of water-related policies such as the EU-water directives. The course will<br />
be supplemented with case studies from developing countries , describing water resource<br />
management programs, their objectives, scale, implementation challenges, and<br />
eects.<br />
