Cemetery.<br />
Jokerst, Benjamin “Ben” S. was born July 4, 1910 and was the son <strong>of</strong> Benjamin and<br />
Lena Jokerst. He attended Lost Mound School and graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High<br />
School in 1927. Ben lived in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin for many years. Ben died<br />
February 19, 1998 in Oconomowoc.<br />
Jokerst, Warren H. was born September 19, 1913 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the son <strong>of</strong><br />
Benjamin and Lena Jokerst. He attended school in <strong>Hanover</strong>. Warren moved to Sterling,<br />
Illinois and lived there for many years. Warren died September 21, 2004 in Sterling.<br />
Jones, Lester “Les” Vernon was born February 3, 1915 in Woodbine Township, Jo<br />
Daviess County and was the son <strong>of</strong> John Henry and Anna Marie (Leibert) Jones. He<br />
graduated from Stockton High School in 1934. Les married Vivian Anna Ester Dotzel<br />
on July 8, 1940 in Dubuque and five children were born to this union: Peggy Lynne<br />
(Jones) Dannels, Thomas “Tom” Russell Jones, Gregory “Greg” Lee Jones, Paul Robert<br />
Jones, and Ann Marie (Jones) Heinkel. The family farmed in rural <strong>Hanover</strong> from March<br />
1950 until they moved to Apple River in 1964 when Les worked as a carpenter for the<br />
next 20 years. Les also served as a <strong>Hanover</strong> School Board member for a time. Les died<br />
January 13, 2000 and is buried in Shepherd <strong>of</strong> the Hills Lutheran Church Cemetery,<br />
Shapville.<br />
Jones, Lula Mae (Zimmerman) Peters was born April 23, 1922 in Moniteau County<br />
Missouri and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Riley and Caroline (Eicher) Zimmerman. She married<br />
Richard “Pete” Gottlieb Peters on September 3, 1938 in California, Missouri and three<br />
children were born to this union: Richard Gene Peters, Gerald Peters, and Carolyn Rose<br />
(Peters) Peck. The family moved to <strong>Hanover</strong> after their marriage to work in the<br />
<strong>Hanover</strong> Woolen Mill. Lula also worked at the Savanna Army Depot and was the<br />
manager at the Indian Head Restaurant. The family moved from <strong>Hanover</strong> to Savanna in<br />
1956 and later back to California, Missouri. Pete died November 26, 1974. Lula<br />
married Frank V. Jones on June 10, 1994 in California and this union gave her three<br />
stepchildren: Robert Jones, Phyllis Sinski, and Patricia Stober. Lula died December 23,<br />
1996 and is buried in Masonic Cemetery, California.<br />
Jones, Melvin “Mel” Ray was born July 2, 1938 in Moline, Illinois and was the son <strong>of</strong><br />
Melvin and June (Johnson) Jones. He married Marilyn Jean Taniges on August 4, 1959<br />
in Casey, Illinois and four sons were born to this union: Michael Ray Jones, Mark<br />
Gregory Jones, Matthew Aaron Jones, and Maury Christopher Jones. The family moved<br />
to Savanna in 1962 and Mel became a partner in Law-Jones Funeral <strong>Home</strong>s in Savanna,<br />
Thomson, Sabula, Elizabeth,and <strong>Hanover</strong>. He was elected Carroll County Coroner in<br />
1976 and served until his death. Mel had served on the Savanna School Board. Mel<br />
died April 4, 1989 in Savanna.<br />
Jones, Vivian Anna Ester (Dotzel) was born January 1, 1916 in Thompson Township,<br />
Jo Daviess County and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Elmer Casper Louis and Emma Carolina<br />
Katharina (Schumacher) Dotzel. She married Lester Vernon Jones on July 8, 1940 in<br />
Dubuque, Iowa and five children were born to this union: Peggy Lynne (Jones)<br />
Dannels, Thomas “Tom” Russell Jones, Gregory “Greg” Lee Jones, Paul Robert Jones,<br />
and Ann Marie (Jones) Heinkel. The family farmed in rural <strong>Hanover</strong> from March 1950<br />
until they moved to Apple River in 1964. Vivian was a registered nurse and worked at<br />
Freeport Memorial Hospital, Galena-Stauss Hospital, and at Lafayette Manor in
