to this union: Martha Wachlin. Lois was a career nurse until her retirement in 1992.<br />

She lived in Freeport for many years and died there on March 12, 2003. She is buried in<br />

Silent Hill Cemetery, McConnell.<br />

Wacker, Bernice Lucille (Garrow) Ready was born September 30, 1913 in Savanna,<br />

Illinois and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Alvin Austin “Crappie” and Mettie Ione (Lego) Garrow.<br />

She married Clarence A. Ready on August 18, 1932 in Galena and three children were<br />

born to this union: Bill Ready, Ray Ready, and Gladys (Ready) Funk. They farmed in<br />

rural <strong>Hanover</strong> for many years, and Bernice worked at the Savanna Garment Factory and<br />

the Savanna Army Depot. Her husband Clarence died September 4, 1975, and she<br />

married Donald Wacker in August 1978 in Savanna. Bernice lived in Savanna for many<br />

years where she died June 29, 2004. She is buried in Savanna Township Cemetery.<br />

Wadleigh, Erma (Sawyer) was born December 13, 1906 in Bettendorf, Iowa and was<br />

the daughter <strong>of</strong> Ira F. and Margaret (Hafel) Sawyer. She married Elmer “Scoot” W.<br />

Wadleigh on April 20, 1929 in Galena and no children were born to this union. They<br />

lived in <strong>Hanover</strong> for many years. Erma died January 31, 1985 and is buried in<br />

Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Wadleigh, Ora Hazel (Schaible) was born October 1, 1898 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the<br />

daughter <strong>of</strong> William Henry and Ruth Isabella (Kearney) Schaible. She married Orrin<br />

Spencer Wadleigh on April 28, 1915 in Galena and one daughter was born to this union:<br />

Bernice Naomi (Wadleigh) McIntyre. Ora worked at the <strong>Hanover</strong> Woolen Mill for a<br />

number <strong>of</strong> years. Ora died April 5, 1985 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Wain, Elva Ruth (Beckett) was born November 27, 1903 in Glen Haven, Wisconsin<br />

and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> William H. and Amanda (Anderson) Beckett. Elva worked at<br />

the <strong>Hanover</strong> Woolen Mill for a number <strong>of</strong> years before moving to Evanston, Illinois.<br />

She married Albert F. Wain on August 8, 1953 in Evanston and no children were born to<br />

this union. Albert died February 24, 1973 and Elva died March 30, 1991. They are both<br />

buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Walder, Oscar A. was born January 14, 1908 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the son <strong>of</strong> Daniel and<br />

Christena M. (Tack) Walder. He graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1927. Oscar<br />

was a World War <strong>II</strong> U.S. Army Veteran. He was an electrician for Southern Pacific<br />

Railroad for 38 years, retiring in 1973. He lived in Savanna for many years. Oscar died<br />

October 9, 1988 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Wallat, Ruth A. (Garrow) was born April 11, 1918 in Savanna, Illinois and was the<br />

daughter <strong>of</strong> Alvin “Crappie” Austin and Mettie Ione (Lego) Garrow. The family moved<br />

to rural <strong>Hanover</strong> in 1924 and to the village <strong>of</strong> <strong>Hanover</strong> in 1933. Ruth moved to Racine,<br />

Wisconsin during World War <strong>II</strong> to work on the line at J. I. Case Company. She married<br />

Otto August Wallat on December 1, 1947 in Racine and this union gave her one stepson,<br />

Roy E. Wallat and one son was born to this union: Alan Wallat. Ruth was employed by<br />

Hamilton Beach Company for a number <strong>of</strong> years and retired from Mamco Inc. Otto was<br />

born May 9, 1902 in Germany and died December 6, 1997 in Racine. Ruth died May 1,<br />

2010. Both Ruth and Otto are buried in Graceland Cemetery, Racine.<br />

Walls, Elma Armastein (Gather) was born June 6, 1929 in Hancock, Arkansas and<br />

was the daughter <strong>of</strong> James “Jim” Eugene and Della “Dell” Nancy (Gregg) Gather. She<br />

married Lloyd Conley Walls on July 9, 1948 in Lake City, Arkansas and six children<br />

were born to this union: Brenda Joyce (Walls) Metcalf, Peggy Ann (Walls) Knoepfle,<br />

Lloyd Dean Walls, Steven Ray Walls, James “Jim” Wayne Walls, and Larry Conley
