orn in 1911 and died in 1971. Eugene died on January 21, 1984 in Pittsburgh.<br />

M<strong>of</strong>fett, Hugh Oliver was born August 17, 1910 in Cherryvale, Kansas and was the<br />

son <strong>of</strong> Dr. Adam and Laura May (Wilkin) M<strong>of</strong>fett. He graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High<br />

School in 1927. He began his journalism career as a newspaper reporter and later<br />

became a writer, national affairs editor, and assistant manager editor for Life magazine.<br />

His accomplishments included interviews with Dr. Albert Schweitzer in Africa and<br />

Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev. When he retired from journalism he was elected to<br />

the Vermont state legislature in 1974 and served until 1981. He married Bette Little and<br />

two children were born to this union: Thomas M<strong>of</strong>fett and Molly (M<strong>of</strong>fett) Frederick.<br />

Hugh had a second marriage and had one son named Mark M<strong>of</strong>fett. Hugh gave the<br />

commencement speech on May 31, 1967 at the <strong>Hanover</strong> High School graduation. Hugh<br />

died April 7, 1985 in Brandon, Vermont.<br />

Moldenhauer, Aaron “Moe” Bruce was born April 18, 1926 in Kulm, North Dakota<br />

and was the son <strong>of</strong> Rudolph and Rose (Fischer) Moldenhauer. He married Alvina<br />

“Blondie” Presler on February 13, 1948 in Aberdeen, South Dakota and three children<br />

were born to this union: Wanda Lou (Moldenhauer) Reutter, Bruce Wayne<br />

Moldenhauer, and Daniel David Moldenhauer. He was a World War <strong>II</strong> U.S. Army<br />

Veteran. Moe was an ammunition destroyer at the Black Hills Army Depot from 1951<br />

until 1966 when he transferred to the Savanna Army Depot and the family moved to<br />

<strong>Hanover</strong>. He retired in 1980. Moe died July 27, 1988 and is buried in Evergreen<br />

Cemetery.<br />

Moldenhauer, Daniel “Moe” David was born December 23, 1953 in Igloo, South<br />

Dakota and was the son <strong>of</strong> Aaron “Moe” Bruce and Alvina “Blondie” (Presler)<br />

Moldenhauer. He moved to <strong>Hanover</strong> in 1966 with his family. Moe graduated from<br />

<strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1972. He married Mary Jane Hingtgen on July 19, 1986 in<br />

Rickardsville, Iowa and two children were born to this union: Jessy Rose Moldenhauer<br />

and Jake Lee Moldenhauer. John Deere in Dubuque and Moline employed Moe for 27<br />

years. He died November 12, 1999 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Moldenhauer, Richard Lee was born October 8, 1972 in Galena, Illinois and was the<br />

son <strong>of</strong> Bruce Wayne and Peggy Louise (Speer) Moldenhauer. He was a senior at River<br />

Ridge High School when he was killed on November 29, 1989 as a result <strong>of</strong> an<br />

automobile – semi-truck accident at South Curtis Road and U.S. Route 20 near<br />

Stockton. Richard is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Monroe, Robert “Bob” Leland was born February 27, 1923 in Patch Grove,<br />

Wisconsin and was the son <strong>of</strong> Vernie George and Cecile Fern (Taylor) Monroe. He<br />

graduated from Patch Grove High School in 1941. Bob was a World War <strong>II</strong> U.S. Army<br />

Veteran. He married Joyce Beth Andrews on April 14, 1946 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and two<br />

daughters were born to this union: Christine “Chris” Jill (Monroe) Dunham and Robin<br />

Joy (Monroe) Whary. Bob worked for 36 years at the Savanna Army Depot and was a<br />

supervisor <strong>of</strong> the Special Weapons Department when he retired in 1978. He was later<br />

the custodian at the <strong>Hanover</strong> United Methodist Church for 20 years. Bob died January<br />

31, 2000 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Moore, Louise Olive (Reinebach) was born January 1, 1919 in Payson, Illinois and<br />

was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Paul Frederick and Ester Louise (Spencer) Reinebach. She taught<br />

home economics and girls P.E. at <strong>Hanover</strong> High School from 1943-44 and she was also<br />

the caretaker for the Log Church Cemetery for a few years. Louise married James<br />
