was a World War <strong>II</strong> U.S. Army Veteran. Chris married Mary Louise Switzer on<br />
November 15, 1952 in Savanna and two children were born to this union: Jon Michael<br />
“Mike” Goldhagen and Christy JoAnn Goldhagen. He lived in rural <strong>Hanover</strong> and was<br />
employed at the Savanna Army Depot for many years. Chris died April 19, 1994 and is<br />
buried in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Elizabeth.<br />
Goldhagen, Jon Michael “Mike” was born October 8, 1954 in Savanna, Illinois and<br />
was the son <strong>of</strong> Christopher Mathias and Mary Louise (Switzer) Goldhagen. Jon was an<br />
Eagle Scout with <strong>Hanover</strong> Boy Scout Troop 36. He graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High<br />
School in 1972 and earned a Mechanical Engineering Degree from the University <strong>of</strong><br />
Illinois. He worked for Quasar and Topy Precision Manufacturing as a Mechanical<br />
Engineer. Jon was living in Schaumburg, Illinois when he died on September 10, 2009.<br />
He is buried in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Elizabeth.<br />
Goldthorpe, Gail Virginia (Irwin) Bishop was born June 29, 1896 in rural <strong>Hanover</strong><br />
and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> William David and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Norman (Michael) Irwin.<br />
She married Orville Martin “O.M.” Bishop in 1916 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and three children were<br />
born to this union: Irwin Orville Bishop, Gwendolyn (Bishop) Schabed, and William<br />
Calvin Bishop. The marriage ended in divorce and Orville died in 1958 in Rockford.<br />
Gail married Stanley Goldthorpe in 1931 in Aledo, Illinois. Stanley died in 1971 in<br />
Galena. Gail lived in Elizabeth for a many years. Gail died January 20, 1993 and is<br />
buried in the Elizabeth Cemetery.<br />
Gollobith, John “Jack” Edward was born October 17, 1922 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the<br />
son <strong>of</strong> Dr. Edward Frank and Ida Mary (Eadie) Gollobith. He graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong><br />
High School in 1940. He and his wife Laura had two children: Edward J. Gollobith and<br />
Lisa Gollobith. He lived in Florida most <strong>of</strong> his life where he was a musician, arranger<br />
and conductor. Jack toured the country with Spike Jones and his City Slickers band.<br />
For more than 40 years Jack provided music for many events in the Tampa Bay area.<br />
Jack died August 18, 2009 in Tampa.<br />
Goodrich, Bessie M. (Kloepping) was born February 15, 1910 in Lanark, Illinois and<br />
was the daughter <strong>of</strong> William and Kathryn (Orth) Kloepping. She married Norval Clyde<br />
Goodrich on April 20, 1932 in Loran, Illinois and four children were born to this union:<br />
Winonna “Winnie” Arlene (Goodrich) Reed, Doris M. Goodrich, Joyce (Goodrich)<br />
Clarkson, and Marlo Goodrich. They lived in rural <strong>Hanover</strong> and Elizabeth for many<br />
years and Bessie worked at Eaton Corporation for 10 years. Bessie died August 26,<br />
1990 and is buried in Ladies Union Cemetery, Stockton.<br />
Goodrich, Norval Clyde was born January 28, 1912 in Pearl City, Illinois and was the<br />
son <strong>of</strong> Charles C. and Elizabeth (Lott) Goodrich. He married Bessie M. Kloepping on<br />
April 20, 1932 in Loran, Illinois and four children were born to this union: Winonna<br />
“Winnie” (Goodrich) Reed, Doris M. Goodrich, Joyce (Goodrich) Clarkson, and Marlo<br />
Goodrich. He farmed for most <strong>of</strong> his life in the <strong>Hanover</strong>, Elizabeth, and Mount Carroll<br />
area. Norval died March 8, 1994 and is buried in Ladies Union Cemetery, Stockton.<br />
Gouse, Melvin Harrison was born November 11, 1895 in Derinda Township, Jo<br />
Daviess County and was the son <strong>of</strong> Marcus Albert and Sarah Viola (O’Keefe) Gouse.<br />
He graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1914 and from the Chicago College <strong>of</strong><br />
Dental Surgery in 1918. He was a U.S Army World War Veteran. He married Vera<br />
Verona White and they lived in Stockton where he had his dental practice for many<br />
years. The couple divorced and he married Mildred Tucker on October 10, 1936 in the<br />
