Hartog and Valerie (Shumaker) Binns. He had been a law enforcement <strong>of</strong>ficer in Apple<br />

River, Stockton, and Lena before moving to <strong>Hanover</strong> and becoming the Chief <strong>of</strong> Police.<br />

He was the Chief <strong>of</strong> Police for about one year before he died on December 18, 1995. He<br />

is buried in Ladies Union Cemetery, Stockton.<br />

Sielaff, Ione Marjorie “Margie” (Burke) was born January 16, 1927 in Elizabeth,<br />

Illinois and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Michael August and Harriet Ellen (Steele) Burke. She<br />

attended Elizabeth schools. Margie married LeRoy Sielaff in October 1947 in Chicago<br />

and three children were born to this union: Richard Sielaff, Nancy (Sielaff) Boehm, and<br />

Louis Sielaff. She lived in Freeport for a number <strong>of</strong> years and worked as a cook in area<br />

restaurants, and also worked at Micro Switch. Margie later moved to <strong>Hanover</strong> and lived<br />

with her sister Lorraine “Rene” Eastman. Margie died January 30, 2002, her funeral<br />

was held in <strong>Hanover</strong>, and she is buried in St. Mary’s Cemtery in Elizabeth.<br />

Siemen, Berniece Frances (Bonjour) was born October 14, 1899 in Apple River,<br />

Illinois and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> William F. and Laura (Hoch) Bonjour. She married<br />

August William Siemen on October 16, 1917 and two children were born to this union:<br />

Roland William Siemen and Lorraine B. (Siemen) Beetz. The Siemens moved to<br />

<strong>Hanover</strong> Township from Woodbine in 1944. Bernice died on February 6, 1981 in<br />

Mendota, Illinois and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Siemen, Lois Alberta (Miller) was born July 20, 1923 in Peru, Iowa and was the<br />

daughter <strong>of</strong> Alfred and Mildred E. (Ball) Miller. She graduated from Stockton High<br />

School in 1940. Lois married Roland William Siemen on February 14, 1944 in <strong>Hanover</strong><br />

and one son was born to this union: William “Bill” Allen Siemen. Lois and Roland<br />

operated the <strong>Hanover</strong> Saw Mill for more than 15 years. Lois died May 18, 2010 and is<br />

buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Siemen, Roland William was born December 20, 1922 in Woodbine Township, Jo<br />

Daviess County and was the son <strong>of</strong> August William and Berniece Frances (Bonjour)<br />

Siemen. He married Lois Alberta Miller on February 14, 1944 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and one son<br />

was born to this union: William “Bill” Allen Sieman. In his early years he farmed and<br />

later owned and operated the <strong>Hanover</strong> Saw Mill for 15 years. Roland was an insurance<br />

salesman with Country Companies until his retirement in 1985. After his retirement he<br />

and his wife Lois wintered in Padre Island, Texas for many years. Roland died February<br />

1, 2002 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Silcox, Helen Marie (Hommelsheim) was born June 21, 1921 and was the daughter <strong>of</strong><br />

Frank and Elsie M. (Cheek) Hommelsheim. The family moved to <strong>Hanover</strong> from Long<br />

Beach, California in 1937 when her father became the assistant supervisor at the<br />

<strong>Hanover</strong> Woolen Mill. She graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1939 and attended<br />

Rockford Business College for one year. Helen married James Vernon Silcox and four<br />

children were born to this union: Gail (Silcox) Pacopac, Terry Silcox, Marilyn (Silcox)<br />

Pacopac, and Lee Silcox. The family lived in Lewiston, Idaho for many years and<br />

Helen worked as a water master clerk. James was born March 17, 1917 and died July<br />

11, 2002. Helen died July 26, 2007 and they are both buried in Forks, <strong>Was</strong>hington.<br />

Simon, Albert Marcus was born September 2, 1924 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the son <strong>of</strong><br />

Adam Oddie and Elizabeth A. (Green) Simon. Albert was a World War <strong>II</strong> U.S. Army<br />

Veteran. He worked in the construction trade and lived in <strong>Hanover</strong> for a few years.<br />

Albert died September 19, 2005 in Dublin, Georgia and is buried in Greenwood<br />

Cemetery, Galena.
