Crawford, Elizabeth was born April 16, 1904 in Carn, County Monaghan, Ireland and<br />

was the daughter <strong>of</strong> John and Sophia (Mills) Crawford. The family moved to the United<br />

States in March 1908 and settled in Rice Township. Elizabeth graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong><br />

High School in 1923 and attended the teachers colleges in De Kalb and Normal, Illinois<br />

and Platteville, Wisconsin. Elizabeth taught in many country schools in the <strong>Hanover</strong><br />

and Elizabeth area and later in the Galena school before she retired in 1970. Elizabeth<br />

died March 29, 1995 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Crawford, Ethel Mary (Kimball) was born July 1, 1907 in Janesville, Wisconsin. She<br />

married John William Crawford on June 16, 1930 in Freeport and one daughter was<br />

born to this union: Carol Ann (Crawford) Unangst. Ethel was a registered nurse,<br />

<strong>Hanover</strong> telephone operator, and was employed at Eaton Corporation in <strong>Hanover</strong>. Ethel<br />

died December 12, 1981 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Crawford, Margaret Ellen was born May 5, 1897 in Carn, County Monaghan, Ireland<br />

and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> John and Sophia (Mills) Crawford. The family moved to the<br />

United States in March 1908 and settled in Rice Township. She attended the teachers<br />

colleges in De Kalb and Normal, Illinois and Platteville, Wisconsin. Margaret was a<br />

schoolteacher for 48 years in Wisconsin, rural Jo Daviess County, and Galena schools<br />

before she retired in 1970. Margaret died March 27, 1996 and is buried in Evergreen<br />

Cemetery.<br />

Creighton, Mary Ellen (O’Halloran) was born in about 1897. She graduated from<br />

<strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1915. She married Walter C. Creighton and three known<br />

children were born to this union: Regis C. Creighton, Marita F. Creighton, and Wilma<br />

R. Creighton. The family lived in Stockton, Illinois for many years.<br />

Crittenden, Lewellen Jessie (Nesbitt) was born January 3, 1917 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was<br />

the daughter <strong>of</strong> Jesse Sherman and Lenora Hunt (White) Nesbitt. She graduated from<br />

<strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1935. Lewellen married Ward Crittenden on March 4, 1951.<br />

Lewellen lived in Renando Beach, California for many years and died there on July 28,<br />

1992.<br />

Cr<strong>of</strong>foot, Earl Alston was born January 13, 1908 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the son <strong>of</strong> Frank<br />

Henry and Elizabeth (Moore) Cr<strong>of</strong>foot. He was married to Linnie Leona Hayes and<br />

four children were born to this union: Lucille June Cr<strong>of</strong>foot (who died when she was<br />

ten years old), Keith Earl Cr<strong>of</strong>foot, Lois Jean (Cr<strong>of</strong>foot) Baker, Linda Lee (Cr<strong>of</strong>oot)<br />

Reitz, and Karl Eugene Cr<strong>of</strong>fott. He later married Marguerite Spencer on June 16, 1975<br />

in Stockton. Earl farmed in the area and was employed by the Illinois Department <strong>of</strong><br />

Transportation. He was a milk truck driver in Pearl City and a salesman for De Kalb<br />

Feed Company. He was employed at Eaton Corporation, Savanna and at the Savanna<br />

Army Depot. Earl was living in Savanna when he died April 22, 1990 and he is buried<br />

in Savanna Township Cemetery.<br />

Cr<strong>of</strong>foot, Linnie Leona (Hayes) was born October 13, 1908 in Berryman Township, Jo<br />

Daviess County and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Charles Lemuel and Daisy Elizabeth (Krise)<br />

Hayes. She was married to Earl Alston Cr<strong>of</strong>foot and five children were born to this<br />

union: Lucille June Cr<strong>of</strong>foot (who died when she was ten years old), Keith Earl<br />

Cr<strong>of</strong>foot, Lois Jean (Cr<strong>of</strong>foot) Baker, Linda Lee (Cr<strong>of</strong>foot) Reitz, and Karl Eugene<br />

Cr<strong>of</strong>foot. Linnie lived in <strong>Hanover</strong> for many years and worked as a line worker at Eaton<br />
