In the late 1980s Jay and Mary moved to Hawaii. Jay died November 16, 2007. He was<br />

cremated and part <strong>of</strong> his ashes was spread on the farm and the remainder was buried in<br />

Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Doran, Edna D. (Donnan) Smith Anderson was born September 16, 1913 in Clayton<br />

County, Iowa and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Edward C. and Nora (Mosley) Donnan. She<br />

attended school in <strong>Hanover</strong>. Edna worked at the <strong>Hanover</strong> Woolen Mill and later for<br />

Illowa Music and Games in Savanna. Edna married Robert Smith and later married<br />

Vernon Anderson on December 10, 1951 in Savanna and this union gave her two stepchildren:<br />

Vern Anderson Jr. and Sharon (Anderson) Raab. Her husband Vernon died in<br />

1993. Edna married Charles Doran in June 1997 and this union gave her two stepsons:<br />

James Doran and Jeff Doran. Edna was living in Savanna when she died on November<br />

13, 2007. She is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Doran, Floyd “Pops” Marshal was born April 12, 1926 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the son <strong>of</strong><br />

William Anthony and Faye Irene (Hancock) Doran. He was a World War <strong>II</strong> U.S. Navy<br />

Veteran. He had two sons: Bill Doran and Chuck Goodwin. He lived in Fort Worth,<br />

Texas a number <strong>of</strong> years before moving to Grove, Oklahoma. Pops was self-employed<br />

as a painter and retired in 1991. Pops died September 13, 1997 in Oklahoma and is<br />

buried in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Grove.<br />

Doran, Mary Loretta was born July 21, 1909 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the daughter <strong>of</strong><br />

James Joseph and Mary Ann (Burke) Doran. She graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High School<br />

in 1927 and later attended Blackburn College. She was a teacher at <strong>Hanover</strong> and<br />

Elizabeth schools and also farmed in the <strong>Hanover</strong> area. After her retirement from<br />

teaching, she worked at the drug store in Elizabeth. Loretta died October 31, 1993 and<br />

is buried in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Elizabeth.<br />

Doss, Michal Elizabeth (Miller) was born March 15, 1909 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the<br />

daughter <strong>of</strong> Dr. Thurman Edgerton and Dr. Nona May (Nesbitt) Miller. She married<br />

Milburne V. Doss on February 27, 1931 and three children were born to this union:<br />

James Robert Doss, Judith Ann (Doss) Hazell, and Jon Renwick Doss. She lived in<br />

Elgin most <strong>of</strong> her life and was employed at the Valley Paint Company for 25 years. She<br />

was an interior decorator before retiring and also taught interior decorating classes at<br />

Elgin Community College for many years. Her husband Milburne was born March 28,<br />

1911 and died in May 1972. Michal died April 9, 1985 and is buried in Elgin.<br />

Doty, James “Jim” Glen was born August 6, 1953 in Savanna, Illinois and was the son<br />

<strong>of</strong> Glen “Bud” and Juriene Leone (Howe) Doty. He graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High<br />

School in 1971. Jim worked at the Village <strong>of</strong> Progress until 1974 and later at the<br />

Rolling Hills Progress Center in Lanark. Jim died July 10, 1994 and is buried in Oak<br />

Hill Cemetery, Mount Carroll.<br />

Doyle, Hazel May (Kirkey) was born January 1, 1908 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the daughter<br />

<strong>of</strong> Elijah Nelson and Minnie Edith (Donaldson) Kirkey. She graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong><br />

High School in 1925. Prior to her marriage she was employed at the <strong>Hanover</strong> Woolen<br />

Mill. Hazel married George E. Doyle on February 8, 1931 and this union gave her two<br />

stepchildren: Dolores (Doyle) Bogue and Gerald Doyle. They lived in a number <strong>of</strong><br />

different cities and returned to <strong>Hanover</strong> in 1963. Hazel died July 19, 1994 and is buried<br />

in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Drake, Gerald F. was born February 23, 1916 in Illinois and was the son <strong>of</strong> Ernest John<br />

and Alice Pearl (Ashelford) Drake. He married Mabel Krum on October 11, 1941 in<br />
