McAdams, Eugene “Gene” was born May 30, 1920 in St. Paul, Minnesota and was the<br />

son <strong>of</strong> Eugene and Ada Matilda (Murphy) McAdams Sr. He was raised in Omaha,<br />

Nebraska and later lived and worked in Chicago. Gene married Allouise Inger Johanna<br />

Mortensen on December 6, 1941 in Cook County, Illinois and one daughter was born to<br />

this union: Karen Judith (McAdams) Parson. The family moved to rural <strong>Hanover</strong> in<br />

1946 where they farmed until 1972. They moved to Savanna where Gene worked as a<br />

USDA meat inspector. Allouise died in May 1975 and he married Marie (Hoertz)<br />

Yachik on February 14, 1976 in Savanna and this union gave him one stepson: Val<br />

Dean Yachik. Married died April 4, 2003 and Gene then moved to Minnesota in 2004<br />

to be near his daughter Karen Parson. Gene died January 17, 2008 and is buried in<br />

Savanna Township Cemetery.<br />

McCann, Leonora was born in June 1882 and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> John J. and<br />

Katharine “Katie” (Schlecht) McCann. She graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High School in<br />

1899. In the 1930s she was living with her sister Adella in Minneapolis, Minnesota.<br />

McCarty, James “Jim” Carroll was born November 27, 1927 in Sanborn, Indiana and<br />

was the son <strong>of</strong> Lloyd Edwards and Hazel Irene (Winkleblack) McCarty. He was a<br />

World War <strong>II</strong> U.S. Navy Veteran. Jim married Mary Parr on June 30, 1948 in West<br />

Terre Haute, Indiana and three children were born to this union: Donna Jean (McCarty)<br />

Monroe, James Carroll McCarty Jr., and Anna Lynn (McCarty) Grimes. They moved to<br />

<strong>Hanover</strong> in 1955. Jim worked for the Milwaukee Railroad as a Conductor and fireman<br />

and he owned and operated the McCarty Shell Service Station in <strong>Hanover</strong> from 1965<br />

until 1975. He later owned and operated Jim’s Saw Shop from his rural <strong>Hanover</strong> home.<br />

Jim died August 16, 2004 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

McCarty, Mary Louise (Parr) was born October 17, 1927 in Terre Haute, Indiana and<br />

was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Clarence Alva and Margaret Loretta Margaret (Smith) Parr. She<br />

married James Carroll McCarty on June 30, 1948 in West Terre Haute, Indiana and<br />

three children were born to this union: Donna Jean (McCarty) Monroe, James Carroll<br />

McCarty Jr., and Anna Lynn (McCarty) Grimes. They moved to <strong>Hanover</strong> in 1955.<br />

Mary died November 15, 2002 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

McClave, Charles “Chuck” David was born May 1, 1922 in rural <strong>Hanover</strong> and was<br />

the son <strong>of</strong> Charles Alexander and Catherine Ann (Duval) McClave. Chuck graduated<br />

from <strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1941 and also attended Brown’s Business College in<br />

Freeport. At the time <strong>of</strong> his retirement in April 1984 he had worked 36 years for Jo-<br />

Carroll Electric Cooperative in Elizabeth as assistant manager. A life long <strong>Hanover</strong><br />

resident, he died May 13, 1999 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

McColley, Bertha G. (Bailey) was born April 7, 1899. She lived in Oklahoma City,<br />

Oklahoma. Bertha died July 3, 1992 and is buried in Lost Mound Cemetery.<br />

McColley, Daniel Alfred was born August 10, 1913 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the son <strong>of</strong><br />

Joseph James and Angeline Ellen (Smith) McColley. He was a World War <strong>II</strong> U.S.<br />

Army Veteran. He married Myrtle Mabel(Weston) Hancock on June 23, 1943 and this<br />

union gave him six step-children: Buena Marguerite (Hancock) Ryder Gugler, Freeman<br />

“Happy” Hancock, Dorothy Mildred (Hancock) Bearsley, Virginia (Hancock) Graham,<br />

Robert W. Hancock, and Bette Lorraine (Hancock) Straight Kallestad. He was an<br />

engine mechanic at the Savanna Army Depot and also worked as an equipment operator<br />

for Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He later moved to Kiln, Mississippi. Daniel died July<br />

18, 1988 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />
