Eastman, Charles “Chuck” Joseph was born July 10, 1918 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the<br />

son <strong>of</strong> Leonard Hammond and Bessie (Speer) Eastman. He graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong><br />

High School in 1936. Chuck was a World War <strong>II</strong> U.S. Army Veteran, serving from<br />

1941 until 1946. He married Gayle Leona Gilman on May 17, 1947 in Monmouth,<br />

Illinois and two daughters were born to this union: Nancy Eileen (Eastman) Wernet and<br />

Karen Joyce (Eastman) Cliff. Chuck had worked at the Savanna Army Depot for 35<br />

years when he retired in 1976. He later worked at the <strong>Hanover</strong> Township Cemetery.<br />

Chuck died September 6, 2003 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Eastman, Clarence Henry was born December 21, 1896 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the son <strong>of</strong><br />

Frederick “Fred” O. and Ann Hester “Hattie” (McCoy) Eastman. He married Stella<br />

Daniel in 1924 in Freeport, she died January 1, 1967. Clarence married Edna Miller on<br />

October 3, 1968 and she died on September 22, 1976. Clarence was a retired farmer and<br />

lived in Elizabeth. He died June 30, 1984 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Eastman, Fern Mildred (Ravenscraft) was born October 13, 1898 and was the<br />

daughter <strong>of</strong> Frank and Jennie (Morris) Ravenscraft. She graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High<br />

School in 1916. She married Frank Wesley Eastman on October 14, 1916 in Galena<br />

and one daughter was born to this union: Fern Eastman. They lived in <strong>Hanover</strong> for a<br />

few years, later moving to Freeport, Illinois. The couple divorced and Fern moved to<br />

Chicago.<br />

Eastman, Francis LaVerne “Vern” was born May 22, 1917 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the<br />

son <strong>of</strong> Albert Guy and Ellen “Ella” Francis (Whalen) Bray. He graduated from<br />

<strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1935 and attended Los Angeles City College. Vern worked as<br />

a pacific coast representative for the D’Arcy Advertising Agency <strong>of</strong> St. Louis and<br />

worked on the Coca Cola account for many years. He married Virginia June Willyard<br />

on October 12, 1939 in Riverside, California and three children were born to this<br />

union: Robert Dale Eastman, Michael Lawrence Eastman, and Carol Lynn Eastman.<br />

The marriage ended in divorce and he and his second wife Sherrill “Sherri” Eastman<br />

were married and lived in Altadena, California. Three children were born to this union:<br />

Christopher Eastman, John Eastman, and Kathleen (Eastman) Tomarken. His daughter<br />

Kathleen married Peter Tomarken, who had hosted the TV game show “Press Your<br />

Luck.” They both died in a plane crash on March 13, 2007 in Santa Monica, California<br />

while flying from Santa Monica to San Diego on a charity flight sponsored by Angel<br />

Flight West, a charity organization that provides free air transportation for needy<br />

medical patients, Peter was the pilot. Vern’s first wife Virginia was born June 8, 1917<br />

in California and died September 11, 1978 in San Francisco. Vern died April 20, 1969<br />

and is buried in Altadena.<br />

Eastman, Frank Wesley was born December 31, 1893 and was the son <strong>of</strong> Frederick<br />

“Fred” O. and Anna Hester “Hattie” (McCoy) Eastman. He grew up and attended<br />

school in <strong>Hanover</strong>. Frank was a World War I Veteran. Frank married Fern Mildred<br />

Ravenscraft on October 14, 1916 in Galena and one daughter was born to this union:<br />

Fern Eastman. The couple later divorced and Frank married Luella A. Kettelhut on<br />

May 5, 1926 in Freeport. Frank had two known children: Richard A. Eastman and<br />

Loraine (Eastman) Coomber. Frank worked with W.N. Miller furniture and<br />

undertaking business in <strong>Hanover</strong> for a few years and in the 1920s moved to Freeport,<br />

Illinois where he assisted at Walker Mortuary. He went into the insurance business and<br />
