Schaible, Leland Charles was born July 15, 1928 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the son <strong>of</strong><br />
Melvin LeRoy and Etta Katherine (Chapman) Schaible. Leland graduated from<br />
<strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1947. He was a U.S. Navy Korean War Veteran and retired<br />
from the Navy in 1967. Leland married Deanna DeCursio on March 29, 1957 and four<br />
children were born to this union: Leland C. Schaible, Dr. Keith L. Schaible, Dr. Rose<br />
(Schaible) Stocker, and Theresa (Schaible) Schadewalt. After Deanna died Leland<br />
married Edith Lilies on June 10, 1967 in Galena and this union gave him three<br />
stepchildren: Ronald Lilies, Richard M. Lilies and Karen Thesesa (Lilies) Boone.<br />
Leland worked as a Marketing Communication Specialist at Micro Switch in Freeport<br />
until he retired in 1986. They lived in <strong>Hanover</strong> for a time before moving back to<br />
Freeport. Leland died May 13, 2009 and is buried in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens,<br />
Freeport.<br />
Schaible, Marion Roscoe was born April 7, 1907 in rural <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the son <strong>of</strong><br />
John J. and Anna H. (Krippendorf) Schaible. He attended the Pleasant Hill Country<br />
School and graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1926. Marion married Ruby<br />
Anchutz and three children were born to this union: Helen Ruby (Schaible) Kilgore,<br />
Harvey Wayne Schaible, and Ruth Marian (Schaible) Fosler. The couple divorced and<br />
Marion married Phyllis Eileen (Turner) Schap on October 27, 1966 and this union gave<br />
him one stepson: Gary Schap. Marion worked for Socony Vacuum Oil for many years,<br />
drove school bus for the Elizabeth School District, and worked at Atwoods in Stockton<br />
for a few years. Marion died March 16, 2007; he was cremated and buried in Evergreen<br />
Cemetery.<br />
Schaible, Melvin LeRoy was born April 1, 1908 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the son <strong>of</strong> LeRoy<br />
“Roy” Jacob and Pearl Helen (Woods) Schaible. He attended school in <strong>Hanover</strong>.<br />
Melvin married Etta Katherine Chapman on June 26, 1927 in Galena and four children<br />
were born to this union: Leland Charles Schaible, Philip Keith Schaible, Grace Joanne<br />
(Schaible) Cliff Bell, and Pricilla Ann (Schaible) Francke Lundy. The couple divorced<br />
and Melvin lived in Wisconsin for a number <strong>of</strong> years. Melvin died in November 1979 in<br />
Reedsburg, Wisconsin.<br />
Schaible, Ralph Ellsworth was born August 8, 1915 in rural <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the son<br />
<strong>of</strong> John J. and Anna H. (Krippendorf) Schaible. He was educated in the Pleasant Hill<br />
Country School. Ralph married Viola Gladys Krug on May 4, 1940 in Schapville and<br />
four children were born to this union: Robert John Schaible, Donald Elmer Schaible,<br />
Doris Mae Schaible, and Carole Jean (Schaible) Murphy. Ralph farmed in rural<br />
<strong>Hanover</strong> until 1965 when he moved to <strong>Hanover</strong> and began working for <strong>Hanover</strong> Lumber<br />
Company until his retirement in 1980. After the death <strong>of</strong> his wife Viola on July 10,<br />
1990 he married Evelyn Studier on November 14, 1992 in <strong>Hanover</strong>. Ralph died<br />
September 2, 1993 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />
Schaible, Vernon “Piggy” Martin was born February 10, 1913 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the<br />
son <strong>of</strong> Leroy “Roy” Jacob and Pearl Helen (Woods) Schaible. He married Beulah Marie<br />
Bennett on April 22, 1933 in Galena and two sons was born to this union: Neil Gerard<br />
Schaible and Dale Schaible who died when he was five months old in 1940. Piggy was<br />
employed for a number <strong>of</strong> years in maintenance at the Savanna Army Depot before his<br />
retirement. Piggy died November 28, 1990 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />
