DeViney, Maxine Mae (Tack) was born July 6, 1923 in Savanna, Illinois and was the<br />

daughter <strong>of</strong> Henry Charles and Grace (Switzer) Tack. She married Everett Edward<br />

DeViney on September 3, 1943 and three children were born to this union: Sheila Marie<br />

(DeViney) Krahn, Douglas Everett DeViney, and Quintin Michael DeViney. The<br />

family lived in <strong>Hanover</strong> for a number <strong>of</strong> years before moving back to Savanna. Maxine<br />

worked at the Eaton Corporation in Savanna. Maxine died June 12, 1984 and is buried<br />

in Mosquito Hill Cemetery, Savanna.<br />

DeWitt, Betty Jean (Hacker) was born July 2, 1940 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the daughter<br />

<strong>of</strong> Ralph August and Vada Louise (Neff) Hacker. She graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High<br />

School in 1958. She married Francis “Buster” L. DeWitt and one son was born to this<br />

union: Ed DeWitt. They lived in Aurora, Illinois for many years and Betty Jean was<br />

employed at Aurora Lift Truck as a used equipment manager for 21 years. Buster died<br />

December 15, 1979 and Betty Jean died November 11, 1994 and she is buried in<br />

Lincoln Memorial Park.<br />

Diadiun, Rose Elizabeth (Rowley) was born October 29, 1922 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the<br />

daughter <strong>of</strong> George and Erma Madeline (Miller) Rowley. She graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong><br />

High School in 1940 and later from beauty school in Chicago. Rose married Daniel<br />

Diadiun on June 30, 1946 and four children were born to this union: Deborah (Diadiun)<br />

Leu, Barbara (Diadiun) Gracy, Daniel Diadiun, and John Jay Diadiun. The family lived<br />

in Westland, Michigan for many years where Rose worked as a beautician and Daniel<br />

was a school teacher. Rose died October 22, 2003.<br />

Dick, Joseph was born in about 1893 and was the son <strong>of</strong> Robert & Mary E. (Willson)<br />

Dick. He graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1913. In 1930 he was selling real<br />

estate in Lincoln, Nebraska.<br />

Diehl, Robert “Buster” Alexander was born August 5, 1921 in Freeport, Illinois and<br />

was the son <strong>of</strong> Jack and Alice Louisa (Paisley) Diehl. He graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High<br />

School in 1939 and served in the Merchant Marines. Buster married Wynona Zierr on<br />

October 29, 1956 in Cook County, Illinois and no children were born to this union.<br />

They lived in Carpentersville, Illinois for many years. Buster worked as a machinist and<br />

welder. Buster died January 5, 1995 and is buried in Carpentersville.<br />

Dittmar, Velva Nadine “Goldie” (Anderson) O’Neal was born August 29, 1920 in<br />

Scobey, Montana and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Victor Lowell and Velva Lillian (Dickinson)<br />

Anderson. She graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1939. Goldie married John E.<br />

O’Neal in 1941 in Savanna and four children were born to this union: Donna O’Neal,<br />

Judi O’Neal, Jonna (O’Neal) Thiessen, and Tim O’Neal. The family lived in<br />

Davenport, Iowa for many years and Goldie was employed as a bartender in numerous<br />

places in the Davenport area. Her husband John died in 1974. Goldie married Clifford<br />

in 1993 and he died a few months later on May 22, 1993. Goldie died August 9, 1999 in<br />

Davenport and is buried in Allens Grove Cemetery, rural Scott County Iowa.<br />

Dobson, Thomas H. was born September 4, 1918 in Murrayville, Illinois and was the<br />

son <strong>of</strong> George Walter “Walt” and Linnie E. (Ketner) Dobson. Thomas was a World<br />

War <strong>II</strong> U.S. Army Veteran. He lived in <strong>Hanover</strong> for many years and was in personnel<br />

management at the Savanna Army Depot for 33 years before he retired in 1973.<br />

Thomas died July 17, 1987. His funeral was held in <strong>Hanover</strong>, cremation rites were<br />

accorded and his ashes were buried in Jacksonville, Illinois.<br />

Dockins, Billie Sue (Wilburn) was born March 18, 1922 in Success, Arkansas and was<br />
