in Savanna and <strong>Hanover</strong> for 33 years when she retired in 1996. Her husband Harold<br />

died September 1, 1993. Mary died February 27, 2001 and is buried in Savanna<br />

Township Cemetery.<br />

Rice, Vearl Elmer was born June 21, 1949 in Savanna, Illinois and was the son <strong>of</strong><br />

Elwin L. and Charlotte A. (Lahre) Rice. His family lived in <strong>Hanover</strong> during his early<br />

years and they later moved to Savanna. He was a veteran <strong>of</strong> the Vietnam War and was a<br />

forklift operator at the Savanna Army Depot. He married Peggy Hartson on October 11,<br />

1969 in Thomson. Vearl died March 11, 1985 and is buried in Lost Mound Cemetery.<br />

Richards, Evelyn J. (Hulscher) was born March 8, 1910 in rural Galena, Illinois and<br />

was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Joseph Henry and Grace M. (Zeal) Hulscher. She graduated from<br />

Galena High School and the University <strong>of</strong> Wisconsin, Platteville. She married Willard<br />

Richards on January 17, 1942 in Dubuque and two children were born to this union:<br />

Eileen (Richards) Arand and James Richards. Willard died on January 20, 1991. She<br />

and her husband farmed most <strong>of</strong> their lives in the Galena area and she taught school in<br />

the Galena and <strong>Hanover</strong> school districts for 20 years. Evelyn died April 22, 1992 and is<br />

buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Galena.<br />

Richardson, Duane was born March 14, 1952 in Hazel Green, Wisconsin and was the<br />

son <strong>of</strong> John and Anna Marie (Smith) Richardson. He had two daughters: Melissa<br />

(Richardson) Kieffer and Valentria (Richardson) Flakes. He lived in Galena for a<br />

number <strong>of</strong> years and later moved to <strong>Hanover</strong> where he died on April 3, 1998. Duane is<br />

buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Galena.<br />

Richmond, Eileen Gertrude (Henschel) was born January 2, 1925 in Dubuque, Iowa<br />

and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Emil George and Elizabeth Armenia (Russ) Henschel. She<br />

graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1943 and graduated from St. Joseph Mercy<br />

Hospital School <strong>of</strong> Nursing in 1946. Eileen married Robert Eugene Richmond on<br />

January 2, 1947 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and six children were born to this union: JoAnn<br />

(Richmond) Nolan, David Robert Richmond, Thomas “Tom” Robert Richmond, Todd<br />

James Richmond, Richard “Dick” Michael Richmond, and Cynthia “Cindy” Ann<br />

(Richmond) Bellmann. Eileen was a nurse with St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Savanna<br />

City Hospital and for Dr. Ralph Speer in <strong>Hanover</strong>. Eileen died November 19, 2009 and<br />

is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Richmond, Frank Roy was born June 29, 1893 in Lanark, Illinois and was the son <strong>of</strong><br />

Fred and Louisa (Forrey) Richmond. He married Lydia V. Hammen on May 15, 1917<br />

in Mt. Carroll and three sons were born to this union: Franklin L. Richmond, Leroy Ray<br />

Richmond, and Robert Eugene Richmond. Frank farmed for many years in rural<br />

<strong>Hanover</strong>. Frank died November 6, 1982 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Richmond, Franklin L. was born January 1, 1915 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the son <strong>of</strong> Frank<br />

Roy and Lydia V. (Hammen) Richmond. He married Mildred Zerbee on November 19,<br />

1945 and they lived in Sabula, Iowa where Franklin was an engineer for the Chicago<br />

and Northwestern Railroad. Mildred died August 8, 1985 and Franklin died September<br />

6, 1985 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Sabula.<br />

Richmond, LeRoy Ray was born December 7, 1918 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the son <strong>of</strong><br />

Frank Roy and Lydia V. (Hammen) Richmond. He was a World War <strong>II</strong> U.S. Army<br />

Veteran. LeRoy farmed in <strong>Hanover</strong> for many years and later moved to Knoxville, Iowa.<br />

LeRoy died June 2, 2000 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Richmond, Lydia V. (Hammen) was born March 7, 1896 in rural Jo Daviess County<br />
