Montezuma, Iowa and graduated from Montezuma High School in 1942. Sam was a<br />

U.S. Army World War <strong>II</strong> Veteran. He married Ruth Francine “Fran” Richards on May<br />

22, 1943 in Philadelphia and one daughter was born to this union: Pamela “Pam” Ruth<br />

(Byers) Miller. Sam graduated from watch making school and owned Keith’s Jewelry<br />

Store in Montezuma for a few years. He later went into the newspaper business; first in<br />

Decorah, Iowa, then to Sauk City, Wisconsin, then Maquoketa, Iowa, then in 1962<br />

moved to Galena and became the resident publisher <strong>of</strong> the Galena Gazette. He sold the<br />

paper in 1985. Sam died April 30, 2007 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Cahalan, Harold Francis was born June 19, 1930 and was the son <strong>of</strong> Thomas H. and<br />

Alberta M. Cahalan. Harold graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1948 and from<br />

Notre Dame University in 1952. He lived in Champaign, Illinois for many years.<br />

Harold died January 4, 1994 in Champaign.<br />

Caine, Patricia Ann was born September 10, 1949 in Shaker Heights, Ohio and was the<br />

daughter <strong>of</strong> John Wilbert and Patricia Jane (Lumpkin) Caine. She received her BA from<br />

Miami University, Oxford, Ohio and received an MBA from Cleveland State University,<br />

Cleveland, Ohio. Patricia spent her career in the telecom industry and retired from<br />

Ameritech in 2000 where she last held the position <strong>of</strong> General Manager in Network<br />

Services. After retirement she moved from Chicago to <strong>Hanover</strong> and was a volunteer<br />

responder for the <strong>Hanover</strong> Ambulance. Patricia died November 13, 2008 and is buried<br />

in All Souls Cemetery, Chardon, Ohio.<br />

Callahan, Earl “Rev” E. was born December 29, 1918 in Galena, Illinois and was the<br />

son <strong>of</strong> Earl Francis and Addie Mae (Eustice) Callahan. He lived in rural <strong>Hanover</strong> for a<br />

time, but spent most <strong>of</strong> his life in Galena. Earl was a World War <strong>II</strong> U.S. Army Veteran<br />

who received the Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars. Earl worked for Montgomery<br />

Trucking for many years. He married Kay McBride on July 25, 1972; she died on<br />

March 29, 1978. Earl died November 26, 1999 and is buried in Greenwood Cemetery,<br />

Galena.<br />

Calvert, Florence M. (Goldhorn) was born April 26, 1897 in Chicago, Illinois and was<br />

the daughter <strong>of</strong> Henry and Anna (Schatz) Goldhorn. She married Walter H. Calvert on<br />

July 10, 1920 and no children were born to this union. She lived in <strong>Hanover</strong> for a<br />

number <strong>of</strong> years before moving to Elizabeth. Florence died October 17, 1984 and is<br />

buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Calvert, Gayle Adeline (Callahan) was born March 1, 1908 in Elizabeth, Illinois and<br />

was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Earl Francis and Addie Mae (Eustice) Callahan. She married<br />

Walter Louis Calvert on February 16, 1926 in Dubuque, Iowa and two sons were born to<br />

this union: Kenneth Walter Calvert and Robert Lyle Calvert. The family lived in Fargo,<br />

North Dakota for a number <strong>of</strong> years. They retired to Galena and later moved to<br />

<strong>Hanover</strong>. Gayle died June 1, 1990 and is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Galena.<br />

Calvert, Kenneth Walter was born October 8, 1926 and was the son <strong>of</strong> Walter Louis<br />

and Gayle Adeline (Callahan) Calvert. He lived in <strong>Hanover</strong> as a child. Kenneth<br />

married Rosalyn “Rosie” Mary Liefker on November 18, 1950 in Galena and five<br />

children were born to this union: Bobbi (Calvert) Harrell, Mary (Calvert) Hebeler,<br />

Kenneth Calvert, Walter Calvert, and Michael Calvert. The family lived in Savanna for<br />

many years. Kenneth died November 2, 2003 and he body was creamted. Rosie died<br />

June 16, 2007 and they are both buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Galena.<br />
