married Mack Claron Anderson on December 3, 1927 in Dubuque, Iowa and one<br />

daughter was born to this union: LaVonne “Bonnie” (Anderson) Gray. After Mack<br />

died in 1973 she married George Charles Massie on September 18, 1977 in Elizabeth<br />

and this union gave her three stepchildren: Darrell “Pete” Robert Massie, JoAnne<br />

(Massie) Sweeney, and Patricia Jean (Massie) Sweeney. Emma died January 12, 1987<br />

and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Massie, George Charles was born January 18, 1906 in Genoa, Wisconsin and was the<br />

son <strong>of</strong> Matthew and Ursula (Venner) Massie. He married Sadie Ione Munson on<br />

September 17, 1929 in Winona, Minnesota and three children were born to this union:<br />

Darrell “Pete” Robert Massie, JoAnne (Massie) Sweeney, and Patricia Jean (Massie)<br />

Sweeney. The family moved from Desoto, Wisconsin to <strong>Hanover</strong> in 1942. Sadie died<br />

December 31, 1976 and George married Emma Frances (Bertsch) Anderson on<br />

September 18, 1977 in Elizabeth and this union gave him one stepdaughter: LaVonne<br />

“Bonnie” (Anderson) Gray. George was a fireman at the Savanna Army Depot for 27<br />

years and lived in <strong>Hanover</strong> for many years. George died October 7, 1986 and is buried<br />

in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Mattern, Caroline Eleanor (Miller) was born November 12, 1902 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was<br />

the daughter <strong>of</strong> J. George and Mary Emma (Dietrich) Miller. Caroline graduated from<br />

<strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1920. She married Harvey Edward Mattern on November 10,<br />

1923 in Elizabeth and one son was born to this union: Keith Edward Mattern. Caroline<br />

worked for many years at the <strong>Hanover</strong> Woolen Mill. She died December 8, 1986 and is<br />

buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Mautner, Milton was born February 28, 1898 in Chicago, Illinois and was the son <strong>of</strong><br />

Ignatz and Henrietta (Lederer) Mautner. He and his wife Olive Marie Mautner had two<br />

know children: Milton Mautner and Loraine Mautner. Olive was born June 24, 1904<br />

and died October 29, 1977 in Sarasota, Florida. Milton died December 27, 1982 in<br />

Sarasota and his ashes were taken to <strong>Hanover</strong> and buried May 17, 1983 in Evergreen<br />

Cemetery.<br />

Maxcy, Linda Marie (Goldhagen) was born June 14, 1947 in Pasco, <strong>Was</strong>hington and<br />

was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Andrew William and Geneva Audrey (Potter) Goldhagen. She<br />

graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1965. Linda lived in Rockford for many years,<br />

working in various sales positions. Linda had one daughter: Amy Kathrine<br />

(Goldhagen) Burfield Bausch Goeschel. She married Noel Mason Maxcy on June 19,<br />

1987. Noel was born December 1, 1940 and died January 29, 2003. Linda died in<br />

Rockford on August 12, 1997; she was cremated and buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

May, Joseph “Joe” James was born January 16, 1893 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the son <strong>of</strong><br />

James M. and Carrie Alvina (Tuttle) May. He graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High School in<br />

1912. He married Olive Marie Pishe and three known children were born to this union:<br />

James Chester May, Marian May, and Clyde Russell May. The family lived in<br />

<strong>Was</strong>hington Heights, Michigan in the 1920s, later moving to Royal Oak, Michigan. In<br />

1931 Joe may have been working on the railroad in Dubuque, Iowa.<br />

Mazur, James “Jim” J. was born May 28, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois and was the son <strong>of</strong><br />

Joseph P. and Ruth E. (Meyer) Mazur. He attended Sullivan High School in Chicago.<br />

He owned and managed buildings in Chicago before moving to rural <strong>Hanover</strong> in 1992.<br />

Jim had one son Michael E. Mazur. Jim died January 26, 2008 and his body was<br />

cremated.<br />
