Brandt, Gordon “Monk” Joseph was born May 14, 1926 in Cobb, Wisconsin and was<br />

the son <strong>of</strong> Arthur Joseph and Eileen Mildred (Wiederhold) Brandt. He was a World<br />

War <strong>II</strong> U.S. Army Veteran and received the Purple Heart. Monk married Marjorie<br />

Evelyn Fowler on January 22, 1955 in <strong>Hanover</strong> three children were born to this union:<br />

JoLinda Alice (Brandt) Hebeler, Vicky Lynn (Brandt) Harmsen, and Scott Michael<br />

Brandt. He worked at the Savanna Army Depot for a couple <strong>of</strong> years after the war and<br />

later owned and operated the Mobil Station in <strong>Hanover</strong> from 1953 until 1962. They<br />

later moved from <strong>Hanover</strong> to Savanna and Monk then worked for Rockford Blacktop as<br />

an equipment maintenance man for 29 years, retiring in 1991. Monk died August 6,<br />

2003 and is buried in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Savanna.<br />

Brantner, Harriett Geneva (Eadie) was born February 3, 1930 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the<br />

daughter <strong>of</strong> Ralph Harold and Dorothy Elzada (Limage) Eadie. She graduated from<br />

<strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1948 and from Northern Illinois University in 1952. Harriett<br />

also did graduate work at the University <strong>of</strong> Illinois, Northern Illinois University and<br />

Clarke College. Harriett married Herbert H. Brantner on June 28, 1958 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and<br />

two children were born to this union: Peter LeClare Brantner and Elizabeth Anne<br />

Brantner. The family lived in Lanark, Illinois for many years where Harriett was an<br />

elementary school teacher for 27 years. Harriett died October 29, 1985 and is buried in<br />

Lanark Cemetery.<br />

Bray, Ella May (Heath) was born September 8, 1879 in Tomah, Wisconsin and was the<br />

daughter <strong>of</strong> Charles and Olive Heath. She married Charles H. Bray in 1896 in Elizabeth<br />

and four children were born to this union: Eugene Carter Bray, Olive (Bray) Hunt,<br />

Lucille V. (Bray) Foster, and Ava G. (Bray) Parker. Ella and Charles operated the<br />

Clover Farm Grocery Store at 201 Jefferson Street in <strong>Hanover</strong> from 1938 until May 31,<br />

1954. Ella later moved to Boca Raton, Florida and she died there on January 19, 1983.<br />

Breckenfelder, Myrtle M. (Chapman) was born September 29, 1915 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and<br />

was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Earl Joseph and Mabel Ann (Wearmouth) Chapman. She graduated<br />

from <strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1933 and later from the Acme Business College in<br />

Lansing, Michigan. She married Robert G. Breckenfelder on September 21, 1940 in<br />

Clinton, Iowa and no children were born to this union. They lived in Rolling Meadows,<br />

Illinois for many years and after the death <strong>of</strong> her husband on July 31, 1977 she moved<br />

back to <strong>Hanover</strong>. Myrtle died April 1, 2006 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Breckenridge, Kathleen “Kit” Elise (Sanderson) was born November 18, 1939 in<br />

Stockton, Illinois and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Warren LeVerne and Emma M. (Gingles)<br />

Sanderson. She graduated from Stockton High School in 1957 and later graduated from<br />

Bradley University in Peoria and received her Masters Degree from the University <strong>of</strong><br />

Illinois in Library Science. Kit married Lloyd Lee Breckenridge on November 27,<br />

1963. He preceded her in death on May 15, 2003. Kit lived in Philadelphia her entire<br />

married life where she worked as a children’s specialist librarian with the Philadelphia<br />

City Institute. She moved back to Jo Daviess County in 2007. Kit died October 26,<br />

2009 in Galena and is buried in Log Church Cemetery.<br />

Brick, Betty Katherine (Pedersen) Nielsen was born November 22, 1924 in Wayne<br />

County, Nebraska and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> John and Marie (Andersen) Pedersen. She<br />

married Jens Leo Nielsen on September 25, 1943 and five children were born to this<br />
