William “Bill” Albert and Nancy Lea (Krohmer) Miller. He lived in <strong>Hanover</strong> and<br />
graduated from River Ridge in 2000. Brian died September 5, 2004 after a long battle<br />
with cancer. He is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />
Miller, Carl Leo was born October 7, 1913 in Rice Township, Jo Daviess County and<br />
was the son <strong>of</strong> Richard E. and Agnes Frances (Lyden) Miller. He married Phyllis<br />
Virginia Reifsteck on August 17, 1937 in Dubuque and two daughters were born to this<br />
union: Kay Arleen (Miller) Bailey and Barbara “Barb” Elaine Miller. He lived in<br />
<strong>Hanover</strong> and worked as a millwright at the Savanna Army Depot from 1940 until 1973.<br />
Carl died June 4, 1992 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />
Miller, Delbert L. was born June 19, 1936 in Miles, Iowa and was the son <strong>of</strong> Dwain<br />
and Beulah (Saunders) Miller. Delbert was a Korean War U.S. Marine Corps Veteran.<br />
He married Dorothy Fischer on November 16, 1965 in Mt. Carroll and this union gave<br />
him six stepchildren: Mary Irwin, Patricia Crimmins, Sharon Livermore, David<br />
Livermore, Steven Livermore, and Richard Livermore, and one daughter was also born<br />
to this union: Debbie Sue Spaulding. Delbert operated the D & D Auction in <strong>Hanover</strong><br />
for a few years before moving to Saint Petersburg, Florida where he owned and operated<br />
the Miller <strong>Home</strong>. Delbert died April 12, 1988 in St. Petersburg and is buried in<br />
Evergreen Cemetery, Sabula, Iowa.<br />
Miller, Ernest “Ernie” August was born July 1, 1907 in Rice Township, Jo Daviess<br />
County and was the son <strong>of</strong> Richard E. and Agnes Francis (Lyden) Miller. He was<br />
educated in Oak Ridge County School in rural Galena and the family later moved to<br />
<strong>Hanover</strong> in 1924. Ernie was a World War <strong>II</strong> U.S. Army Veteran. He married Nellie<br />
Gray (Calvert) Paul on March 26, 1946 in Galena and this union gave him one<br />
stepdaughter: Jean Ardith Paul. Ernie worked as a machinist at the Savanna Army<br />
Depot for 40 years. He was also employed part time for the City <strong>of</strong> <strong>Hanover</strong> as an<br />
electrician. Following his retirement he worked at the <strong>Hanover</strong> Shell Station. Ernie<br />
died April 13, 1994 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />
Miller, Helen Amelia was born April 14, 1909 in Galena, Illinois and was the daughter<br />
<strong>of</strong> Richard E. and Agnes Francis (Lyden) Miller. Helen lived in <strong>Hanover</strong> most <strong>of</strong> her<br />
life. She died February 8, 1989 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />
Miller, Irene Mary (Campbell) was born March 28, 1895 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the<br />
daughter <strong>of</strong> James and Minnie E. (Wells) Campbell. She married Robert Leslie Miller<br />
on March 28, 1921 and no children were born to this union. They opened up the<br />
<strong>Hanover</strong> Bakery in 1923 and in 1935 added Jack Sprat Grocery to the business at 232<br />
Jefferson Street. They sold the business in August 1946. Irene moved to Monroe,<br />
Wisconsin in July 1980 to be near her sister Lois Holland. Irene died July 2, 1983 and is<br />
buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />
Miller, Jack Campbell was born March 22, 1915 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the son <strong>of</strong> John<br />
Jay and Sarah (White) Miller. He graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1933. Jack<br />
was a World War <strong>II</strong> U.S. Army Veteran. He married Charlotte “Sis” Arminta Eadie on<br />
November 30, 1940 in Dubuque, Iowa and two children were born to this union: Joanne<br />
(Miller) Brady and Robert “Pete” Gary Miller. Jack was the fire chief at the Savanna<br />
Army Depot before his retirement in 1972. Jack died February 29, 1988 and is buried in<br />
Evergreen Cemetery.<br />
