Merlin fell through the ice on Rush Creek and drowned on January 24, 1981 and is
buried in the Savanna Township Cemetery.
McIntyre, Nadene Mae (Graham) was born March 19, 1917 in Hanover and was the
daughter of Charles Francis “Frank” and Gertrude Eva (Kuhns) Graham. She graduated
from Hanover High School in 1935 and from Bradley University in Peoria in 1940.
Nadene married John “Jack” George McIntyre on September 21, 1940 in Dubuque and
two daughters were born to this union: Yerda Jane (McIntyre) Potter and Peggy Anne
(McIntyre) Morse. Nadene worked as a State Investigator for the Department of
Professional Services until she retired in 1982. Nadene died May 18, 2010 and is buried
in Evergreen Cemetery.
McKinley, Floyd Lester was born June 7, 1903 in Hanover and was the son of George
Lester and Mary Ann (Parker) McKinley. He graduated from Hanover High School in
1922. Floyd lived in Cleveland, Tennessee for many years and later moved to
Lakefield, Minnesota. Floyd died April 11, 1981.
McKinley, Joseph “Joe” Clifford was born September 12, 1911 in Derinda Township,
Jo Daviess County and was the son of the Reverend John Marshall and Frances
Catherine (Parker) McKinley. He graduated from Hanover High School in 1932. Joe
married Margaret Alice Miller on September 8, 1934 in Savanna and three children were
born to this union: Carolyn Ann (McKinley) Paisley, John Leroy McKinley, and
Kathleen “Kathi” Louise (McKinley) Sommerville. He worked for Savanna
Construction as a cement mason for more than 30 years and also worked at the Hanover
Post office as a clerk. Joe died June 28, 2000 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.
McKinley, Margaret “Marg” Alice (Miller) was born September 4, 1916 in Hillsdale,
North Dakota and was the daughter of Parke McClellan and Loretta Ann (Ravenscraft)
Miller. She graduated from Hanover High School in 1934. Marg married Joseph
Clifford McKinley on September 8, 1934 in Savanna and three children were born to
this union: Carolyn Ann (McKinley) Paisley, John Leroy McKinley, and Kathleen
“Kathi” Louise (McKinley) Sommerville. In 1962 Marg began working for Dr. Miller
at the Dentist Office in Hanover and was later employed at the Savanna Army Depot for
20 years before she retired. Marg was the Methodist Church Organist for over 50 years.
Marg died November 21, 2006 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.
McKinley, Nancy Joanne (Armstrong) was born December 11, 1943 in Savanna,
Illinois and was the daughter of Wilfred John and Margaret Isabelle (Virtue) Armstrong.
She attended Black School and graduated from Hanover High School in 1961. Nancy
married John Leroy McKinley on October 27, 1962 and one daughter was born to this
union: Tamara Jo (McKinley) Fuligni. Nancy worked as a secretary at the Savanna
Army Depot and later worked as the secretary to the Superintendent of Schools for the
Amboy, Illinois school district for ten years. In 2000 she became a secretary for the
Miner Insurance Agency in Hanover. Nancy died February 2, 2007 and is buried in
Evergreen Cemetery.
McKinley, Raymond “Ray” Marshall was born July 22, 1903 Derinda Township, Jo
Daviess County and was the son of the Reverend John Marshall and Frances Catherine
(Parker) McKinley. He graduated from Hanover High School in 1922. Raymond
attended Cornell College for one year and graduated from Iowa State University in 1927
with a forestry degree. He met, and later married Opal Madleyn Hewitt, while at Iowa
State, and one son was born to this union: Duane Hewitt McKinley. Ray was a Forest
