Winston, Richard Wayne was born February 3, 1947 in Savanna, Illinois and was the<br />
son <strong>of</strong> Herbert Wayne and Berneice (Newell) Winston. His early years were spent in<br />
<strong>Hanover</strong> and later in Savanna and Clinton, Iowa. Richard married Miss Wand and they<br />
were later divorced. He was a welder. Richard died January 20, 1988; he was cremated<br />
and buried in Savanna Township Cemetery.<br />
Winter, Eydie Ann was born November 18, 1958 in Savanna, Illinois and was the<br />
daughter <strong>of</strong> George Forrest “Frosty” and Josephine “JoAnne” Marie (Heim) Winter.<br />
She graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1978. Eydie died December 21, 1987 and<br />
is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />
Winter, George Forrest “Frosty” was born January 16, 1931 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the<br />
son <strong>of</strong> George Orma “Orm” and Sarah (Turner) Winter. He graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong><br />
High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Frosty<br />
married Josephine “JoAnne” Marie Heim on November 13, 1954 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and five<br />
children were born to this union: John Mark Winter, Kerry Lou (Winter) Sedivy, Sara<br />
Sue Winter, James “Jim” Forrest Winter, and Eydie Ann Winter. He worked at the<br />
Savanna Army Depot for 37 years before he retired in 1986. Frosty had is own band for<br />
25 years and played at many area dances. Frosty died June 12, 1995; he was cremated<br />
and buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />
Winter, George Orma “Orm” was born January 16, 1903 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the son<br />
<strong>of</strong> George William and Emily Matilda “Lou” (Weingartner) Winter. He graduated from<br />
<strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1920. He married Sarah “Sally” Turner on May 12, 1928 in<br />
Galena and three sons were born to this union: George Forrest “Frosty” Winter, John<br />
Turner Winter, and James Waddington Winter. They also adopted one daughter: Kay<br />
Marlene (Winter) Smith and were foster parents to numerous children through the years.<br />
Orma was the sexton for Evergreen Cemetery for 25 years. Orma died July 30, 1985 and<br />
is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />
Winter, John Mark was born July 6, 1956 in Savanna, Illinois and was the son <strong>of</strong><br />
George Forrest “Frosty” and Josephine “JoAnne” Marie (Heim) Winter. He graduated<br />
from <strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1974 and served in the U.S. Army from 1974-78. John<br />
met and married his wife Debbie when they were both in the Army and one daughter<br />
was born to this union: Sarah Elizabeth Winter, they later divorced. John graduated<br />
from Pennsylvania State University and was a Physician’s Assistant in Dubuque, Iowa<br />
for many years. John died May 4, 1990 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />
Winter, Josephine “JoAnne” Marie (Heim) was born May 14, 1930 in Galena,<br />
Illinois and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Joseph “Joe” and Cecilia “Ceil” (Reiter) Heim. She<br />
married George Forrest “Frosty” Winter on November 13, 1954 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and five<br />
children were born to this union: John Mark Winter, Kerry Lou (Winter) Sedivy, Sara<br />
Sue Winter, James “Jim” Forrest Winter, and Eydie Ann Winter. JoAnn died June 27,<br />
1999; she was cremated and buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />
Winter, Sara Sue was born August 3, 1963 in Savanna, Illinois and was the daughter <strong>of</strong><br />
George Forrest “Frosty” and Josephine “JoAnne” Marie (Heim) Winter. She graduated<br />
from <strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1981. Sara died June 24, 1990 and is buried in Evergreen<br />
Cemetery.<br />
Winter, Sarah “Sally”(Turner) was born June 29, 1898 in Galena, Illinois and was the<br />
248
