Gilbertson, George M. was born March 10, 1902 in Liknes, Norway and was the son <strong>of</strong><br />
Gabriel and Greta (Jacobson) Gilbertson. He married Lena Mae Baertsch on October<br />
17, 1936 in Decorah, Iowa and they had one daughter: Sonja Lee (Gilbertson) Crockett.<br />
He lived in <strong>Hanover</strong> for most <strong>of</strong> his adult life and was a construction worker <strong>of</strong> the<br />
building trades. George died July 31, 1980 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />
Gilbertson, Lena Mae (Baertsch) was born April 10, 1910 in Fountain City,<br />
Wisconsin and was the daughter Henry and Sophia (Keller) Baertsch. She married<br />
George M. Gilbertson on October 17, 1936 in Decorah, Iowa and one daughter was<br />
born to this union: Sonja Lee (Gilbertson) Crockett. She lived in <strong>Hanover</strong> for most <strong>of</strong><br />
her adult live. Lena died May 5, 1987 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />
Gillaspie, Elizabeth “Betty” Ann (Miller) was born February 6, 1920 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and<br />
was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Parke McClellan and Loretta Ann (Ravenscraft) Miller. She<br />
graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1938 and from Northern Illinois University.<br />
After graduating from college Betty joined the military and served in the WAC’s during<br />
World War <strong>II</strong>. She met, and married, Colonel Mark Wolford Gillaspie during World<br />
War <strong>II</strong> and four children were born to this union: Robert “Bob” Gillaspie, Jane<br />
Gillaspie, Joseph “Joe” Gillaspie, and Ann Gillaspie. The family lived in many places<br />
due to Mark’s career in the Air Force. They retired in San Antonio, Texas. Mark was<br />
born March 31, 1918 in Childress, Texas and died September 19, 1984. Elizabeth died<br />
September 13, 2003 and both she and Mark are buried at Fort Sam Houston National<br />
Cemetery in San Antonio.<br />
Gillies, Richard “Dick” Robert was born January 29, 1922 in Naples, South Dakota<br />
and was the son <strong>of</strong> George Joseph and Alice Marie (Kroppe) Gillies. He was a World<br />
War <strong>II</strong> U.S. Army Veteran. Dick married Sylvia Ann Gallop on December 16, 1950 in<br />
Watertown, South Dakota and three children were born to this union: Eugene “Gene”<br />
Allen Gillies, Ricky “Rick” Joe Gillies, and Jolene Marie (Gillies) Horsfield. Dick<br />
worked at the Black Hills Army Depot in South Dakota until 1965 when he was<br />
transferred to the Savanna Army Depot and the family lived in <strong>Hanover</strong>. Dick died June<br />
16, 2006; he was cremated and buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />
Gillogly, Gregg Glen was born July 24, 1958 in Savanna, Illinois and was the son <strong>of</strong><br />
Zane Glenn and Bonnie Kay (Bearsley) Gillogly. He graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High<br />
School in 1976. Gregg was employed at Kelly-Springfield Tire Company in Freeport as<br />
a roll changer. Gregg died June 27, 1988 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />
Girot, Edmund “Ed” Francis was born September 15, 1906 in Galena, Illinois and<br />
was the son <strong>of</strong> Paul Joseph Vital and Martha Juliette (Quille) Girot. He grew up in rural<br />
<strong>Hanover</strong>. He married Agnes Elizabeth Mista and two daughters were born to this union:<br />
Joan Elaine (Girot) Gee and Marilyn “Bunny” Kay (Girot) Fox. The family lived in<br />
Monona, Iowa for a number <strong>of</strong> years before they divorced in the early 1940s. Ed<br />
married Grace Estelle Girot in 1943 and two sons were born to this union: Edmund<br />
John Girot and James “Jim” Girot. The family lived in Saint Petersburg, Florida before<br />
moving to New Port Richey, Florida. Ed was in the furnace and fuel oil business and<br />
Grace was a schoolteacher. His first wife Agnes was born March 10, 1899 and died<br />
January 5, 1989 in Postville, Iowa. Grace was born April 1, 1913 and died May 9, 1984.<br />
