Olive Eloise (Griebenow) Speer, Gordon Henry Griebenow, and Richard Ernest<br />

Griebenow. She lived in <strong>Hanover</strong> for a number <strong>of</strong> years with her son-in-law and<br />

daughter, Dr. Ralph & Olive Speer. Lilian died January 30, 1983 and is buried in<br />

Lakewood Cemetery in Minnesota.<br />

Griffin, Darlene Joan (Zeeman) was born December 8, 1940 in Michigan and was the<br />

daughter <strong>of</strong> Charles and Belvia Selma (Schmidt) Zeeman. She married Daniel Ernest<br />

Griffin on November 17, 1962 in Holly, Michigan and four children were born to this<br />

union: Suzanne Renee Griffin, Michael Ernest Griffin, Denise Kay Griffin, and<br />

Matthew Eric Griffin. The family moved to <strong>Hanover</strong> in 1979 and Darlene worked as a<br />

registered nurse at St. Joseph’s Unit, Mercy Health Center in Dubuque. Darlene died<br />

October 28, 1982 and is buried in the Log Church Cemetery.<br />

Griffin, Thomas Eugene was born April 6, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois and was the son <strong>of</strong><br />

Thomas Eugene and Helene Matilda (Pedersen) Griffin Sr. Thomas spent his youth in<br />

Antioch, Illinois. He was a Vietnam War U.S. Army Veteran. Thomas had two<br />

children: Robert Griffin and Sandra (Griffin) Caldwell. Thomas lived in <strong>Hanover</strong> for a<br />

time and had been a cook for many years. Thomas died May 17, 2004 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and is<br />

buried in Hillside Cemetery, Antioch.<br />

Griffiths, Bessie “Betty” Eloise (Gibson) was born June 19, 1922 in Keosauqua, Iowa<br />

and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Roy Nolan and Mildred Ethel (White) Gibson. She married<br />

James David Griffiths on December 5, 1942 in <strong>Was</strong>hington, D.C. and five children were<br />

born to this union: Albert Leroy Griffiths, Dwaine Hazon Griffiths, Larry David<br />

Griffiths, Jeffrey “Jeff” James Griffiths, and Linda Darlene (Griffiths) Delvaux. Betty<br />

worked at the Savanna Army Depot until she retired in 1972. Betty and Jim owned and<br />

operated the <strong>Hanover</strong> Café in the 1970s and also owned and operated Griffiths’ Mobile<br />

<strong>Home</strong> Court in <strong>Hanover</strong> for many years. Betty died April 14, 2002 and is buried in<br />

Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Griffiths, Kathryn Elizabeth (Lazenby) was born March 17, 1899 in Keosauqua, Iowa<br />

and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Albert G. and Anna Lee (Starr) Lazenby. She married Roy<br />

Erwin Griffiths on March 12, 1918 in Keosauqua and two sons were born to this union:<br />

James David Griffiths and Charles “Chick” Eugene Griffiths. They lived in <strong>Hanover</strong> for<br />

a number <strong>of</strong> years. Kathryn died November 26, 1982 and is buried in Evergreen<br />

Cemetery.<br />

Griffiths, Roy Erwin was born July 28, 1891 in Keosauqua, Iowa and was the son <strong>of</strong><br />

James David and Sally Jane “Sarah” (Heath) Griffiths. He married Kathryn Elizabeth<br />

Lazenby on March 12, 1918 in Keosauqua and two sons were born to this union: James<br />

David Griffiths and Charles “Chick” Eugene Griffiths. He owned a restaurant and lived<br />

in <strong>Hanover</strong> for a number <strong>of</strong> years. Roy died January 2, 1982 and is buried in Evergreen<br />

Cemetery.<br />

Grimm, Bertha Louisa (Reifsteck) was born July 12, 1886 in Schapville and was the<br />

daughter <strong>of</strong> Andrew W. and Anna C. (Millhouse) Reifsteck. She graduated from<br />

<strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1904. She married Frederick M. Grimm on June 16, 1910 in<br />

Galena and three children were born to this union: Frederick A. Grimm, and twins<br />

Guss L. Grimm and Elizabeth M. Grimm. The family lived in Galena for many years.<br />

Bertha died in September 1972 in Galena and is buried in Greenwood Cemetery.<br />

Grishkowsky, Rosebud Lillian (Hyink) was born March 6, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois<br />

and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Benjamin “Ben” and Agnes Lillian (Bruzek) Hyink. She grew<br />
