Higley, Eber Ner was born November 22, 1927 in Ashton, Illinois and was the son <strong>of</strong><br />

Eber H. and Luella M. (Leas) Higley. Eber grew up in <strong>Hanover</strong>. He married Ruth Marie<br />

Johnson on May 7, 1949 in Rockford, Illinois and two children were born to this union.<br />

They divorced on December 6, 1971. Eber married Jean P. Vlention on June 10, 1980.<br />

Eber lived in Reedsburg, Wisconsin for many years. Eber died February 20, 1993; he<br />

was cremated and buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Hill, Dorothy (Morehead) was born June 2, 1913 in Savanna, Illinois and was the<br />

daughter <strong>of</strong> Thomas Ferguson and Alma McIntyre (Lumsden) Morehead. She married<br />

Russell Hill on June 27, 1947 and no children were born to this union. Dorothy was a<br />

clerk at the Savanna Army Depot before she retired in 1975. The couple later moved to<br />

Phoenix, Arizona. Dorothy died in Phoenix on July 12, 1986; she was cremated and her<br />

ashes were buried in Savanna Township Cemetery.<br />

Hill, Florence May (Bowen) was born December 26, 1899 in Wyanett, Illinois and was<br />

the daughter <strong>of</strong> Walter and Rosa (Sharp) Bowen. She married Stephen Elmer Hill on<br />

February 27, 1929 in Rockford and seven children were born to this union: Donald<br />

Gene Hill, Melvin Walter Hill, Richard Arlan Hill, William Hill, Rosalie Carol (Hill)<br />

Munson, Karen JoAnne (Hill) Harkness, and Stephen Elmer Hill. The family lived in<br />

Rockford for many years before moving to <strong>Hanover</strong>. Florence died August 18, 1998<br />

and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Hill, James “Jim” Eugene was born March 24, 1947 in Freeport, Illinois and was the<br />

son <strong>of</strong> James Richard and Joyce Elinor (Wright) Hill. He graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High<br />

School in 1965. Jim was a Vietnam War U.S. Army Veteran. He was married, and later<br />

divorced, to Yvonne Marie Schreck and one son was born to this union: Christopher<br />

Hill. Jim lived in Savanna for many years and worked at the Econo Gas Station until it<br />

closed. Jim died November 22, 2004 in Savanna; he was cremated and buried in Ladies<br />

Union Cemetery, Stockton.<br />

Hill, James “Jim” Richard was born February 18, 1921 in rural Stockton, Illinois and<br />

was the son <strong>of</strong> Ambrose and Mary (Darnell) Hill. He attended school in the Stockton<br />

area. Jim was a World War <strong>II</strong> U.S. Army Veteran. Jim married Joyce Elinor Wright<br />

October 9, 1946 in Stockton and four children were born to this union: James Eugene<br />

Hill, Steven Richard Hill, Susan Lynn Hill, and Jodelle Rae (Hill) Dascher. After their<br />

marriage they moved to <strong>Hanover</strong> and Jim began working at the Savanna Army Depot<br />

until he retired in 1981. Jim was living in Savanna when he died on October 14, 2006.<br />

He is buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Warren.<br />

Hill, Joyce Elinor (Wright) was born October 14, 1929 in Stockton, Illinois and was<br />

the daughter <strong>of</strong> Orville Burdette and Irma (Forsythe) Wright. She married James<br />

Richard Hill on October 9, 1946 in Stockton and four children were born to this union:<br />

James Eugene Hill, Steven Richard Hill, Susan Lynn Hill, and Jodelle Rae (Hill)<br />

Dascher. Joyce lived in <strong>Hanover</strong> for most <strong>of</strong> her married life and her later years she<br />

lived in Savanna. Joyce died June 16, 2003 and is buried in Ladies Union Cemetery,<br />

Stockton.<br />

Hill, Russell A. was born May 14, 1908 near Dixon, Illinois and was the son <strong>of</strong> Albert<br />

H. and Phoebe (Gray) Hill. He married Elwyna “Winnie” D. Miller and they had two<br />

children: Eugene R. Hill and Charlotte (Hill) Angell. Russell and Elwyna divorced,<br />

later he married Dorothy Morehead on June 27, 1947 and no children were born to this<br />

union. They made their home in <strong>Hanover</strong> for many years. Russell worked at the<br />
