Veteran. He married Joan D. Rampenphal Schultz on October 7, 1964. He had four<br />
children: Mary Lou Hancock, Margaret (Hancock) Smith, Loyal Hancock, and Allen<br />
Hancock. He also had four stepchildren: Michael Schultz, Patrick Schultz, Robin<br />
Schultz, and Karen Schultz. Robert lived in Freeport for many years and was employed<br />
at Micro Switch Company until he retired in 1978. His wife Joan died June 26, 1996 and<br />
her body was donated to science. Robert died September 1, 1989 and his body was<br />
cremated.<br />
Handel, Violet Joyce (Curtis) was born November 14, 1931 in Guilford Township, Jo<br />
Daviess County and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> LaVerne and Berneta (Hancock) Curtis. She<br />
graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1950. Violet married Harold Handel on August<br />
13, 1950 and six daughters were born to this union: Barbara (Handel) Helin, Deborah<br />
(Handel) Schreiner, Lynn (Handel) Haas, Roxanne (Handel) Jacobs, Kimberly (Handel)<br />
Cook, and Karen (Handel) Robinson. The family farmed in rural Savanna. Harold died<br />
on February 13, 2004 and Violet died May 30, 2006. They are both buried in St. Peter<br />
Cemetery, Savanna.<br />
Handy, Ellsworth A. was born February 21, 1915 in Hinsdale, Illinois and was the son<br />
<strong>of</strong> William and Adeline (Gansburg) Handy. He attended public school in Hinsdale.<br />
Ellsworth was a pilot with the U.S. Air Force and was a World War <strong>II</strong> Veteran. He<br />
married Carolyn Pickard on March 3, 1945 in Meridian, Mississippi and three children<br />
were born this union: Pamela (Handy) Allison; Barbara (Handy) Marchello, and David<br />
Handy. In 1964 Ellsworth became president <strong>of</strong> the American National Bank in<br />
Cheyenne, Wyoming and later moved to St. Joseph, Michigan where he was the<br />
treasurer for Clark Equipment. In 1966 he became an investment banker in Chicago. In<br />
1967 he purchased a farm in <strong>Hanover</strong> and in 1970 he left the banking firm in Chicago<br />
and moved to <strong>Hanover</strong> where he operated Basic Bookkeeping Business until 1980.<br />
Ellsworth died January 23, 2007 and a memorial service was held at the <strong>Hanover</strong> Town<br />
Hall.<br />
Haney, Dorothy Mattie (Graves) Krause was born March 10, 1911 in Quaker,<br />
Missouri and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> George Granvil and Mary Magdoline (Flowers)<br />
Graves. She married Earl William Krause on January 20, 1926 in Missouri and two<br />
children were born to this union: Adeline (Krause) Mulholland and Archie Martin<br />
Krause. Dorothy married Milton Robert Haney in 1956. She lived in Chicago from<br />
1927 until 1964 when she moved to <strong>Hanover</strong>. Dorothy was a line worker at Eaton<br />
Corporation in Savanna and <strong>Hanover</strong> from 1964 until 1973. Dorothy died August 2,<br />
2000 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />
Hanny, Benjamin Franklin was born August 4, 1894 in Chicago, Illinois and was the<br />
son <strong>of</strong> Albert and Wilhelmina “Minnie” (Rust) Hanny. He married Della Marie Kirkey<br />
on January 4, 1928 in Freeport and two children were born to this union: Marilyn<br />
Annette (Hanny) Eberhardt and John Franklin Hanny. Ben was a World War I Veteran.<br />
He was a supervisor at the Savanna Army Depot and also operated the Dreamland<br />
Movie Theater in the <strong>Hanover</strong> Township Hall from 1936 until 1956. Ben died February<br />
11, 1984 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />
Hanny, Della Marie (Kirkey) was born January 30, 1906 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the<br />
daughter <strong>of</strong> Elijah Nelson and Minnie Edith (Donaldson) Kirkey. She graduated from<br />
<strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1924. She married Benjamin Franklin Hanny on January 4,<br />
1928 in Freeport and two children were born to this union: Marilyn Annette (Hanny)<br />
