Lytle, Maude Rebecca (Edgerton) Baird was born March 22, 1888 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and<br />

was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Frederick Hale and Matilda (Irwin) Edgerton. She graduated from<br />

<strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1906. Maude was a schoolteacher in <strong>Hanover</strong> and later moved<br />

to Monmouth, Illinois and worked as a librarian. She married the Reverend James<br />

Wallace Baird in August 1912 and four children were born to this union: Jeanette<br />

(Baird) DeVault, William Baird, Kenneth Baird, and Donald Baird, all born in Egypt.<br />

The Reverend Baird drowned August 7, 1926 while serving as a missionary in Egypt.<br />

Maudle married Dr. James P. Lytle in 1957, he was also a minister. She lived in<br />

<strong>Was</strong>hington, Iowa for many years and died in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on April 21, 1984.<br />

She is buried in Monmouth.<br />

Mace, Franklin Roger was born April 7, 1926 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the son <strong>of</strong> Earl<br />

Joseph and Florence Mildred (Smith) Mace. The family moved to Rockford in 1927.<br />

Franklin was a World War <strong>II</strong> and Korean War U.S. Army Veteran. He married Rose E.<br />

Darnell on March 1, 1946 in Rockford and three children were born to this union:<br />

Franklin Mace, Jr., David C. Mace, Sr., and Sheila Mace. Rose died January 17, 2009<br />

and Franklin died December 27, 2008; they are both buried in Sunset Memorial Park,<br />

Rockford.<br />

Mace, Ida May (Becker) Elliott was born April 4, 1890 in Freeport, Illinois and was<br />

the daughter <strong>of</strong> George and Lucretia Derstyne (Gross) Becker. She married Albert<br />

Elliott in 1928 and he died in 1953. She later married Orrin Mace on July 21, 1956.<br />

She lived in <strong>Hanover</strong> for a number <strong>of</strong> years and worked as a munitions handler at the<br />

Savanna Army Depot. Ida died November 18, 1980 and is buried in Savanna Township<br />

Cemetery.<br />

Mace, Raymond Orville was born April 17, 1924 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the son <strong>of</strong> Earl<br />

Joseph and Florence Mildred (Smith) Mace. The family moved to Rockford in 1927<br />

and he graduated from East High School in 1942. Raymond was a World War <strong>II</strong> U.S.<br />

Army Veteran. Raymond married Janell L. Magin on October 31, 1953 in Dubuque<br />

and one daughter was born to this union: Raenell Florence Mace. He was employed as<br />

an engineer fireman for Rockford School District 205 from 1957 until retiring in 1986.<br />

Raymond died January 9, 2009.<br />

Mace, Robert George was born July 19, 1930 in Savanna, Illinois and was the son <strong>of</strong><br />

George J. and Lillian G. (Grimm) Mace. Robert was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran.<br />

He married Priscilla “Boots” Smith on August 6, 1950 in Savanna. He was employed as<br />

a rural mail carrier for the Savanna and <strong>Hanover</strong> areas for 33 years prior to retiring in<br />

1966. Robert died August 17, 1989 and is buried in Lost Mound Cemetery.<br />

Mahan, Laverne Marcella (Strasser) was born July 8, 1904 in Bellevue, Iowa and was<br />

the daughter <strong>of</strong> William “Will” and Madge Ellen (Harkness) Strasser. She graduated<br />

from <strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1922. Laverne married Arthur T. Mahan in 1923 and four<br />

children were born to this union: Arthur Mahan, Marilyn Mahan, Robert Mahan, and<br />

Richard Mahan. The family moved to Los Angeles, California in the mid-1920s and<br />

Laverne died there on January 27, 1988.<br />

Mahr, Clara (Alovera) was born January 17, 1922 in Dunalag, Capiz, Philippines and<br />

was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Felix and Salvacion (Frondoza) Alovera Sr.. She married George<br />

R. Mahr on January 18, 1951 in Manila, Philippines and three children were born to this<br />

union: Patricia Ann (Mahr) Baum, Leilani Susan (Mahr) Barna, and William Patton<br />

Mahr. The family moved to <strong>Hanover</strong> in 1969 and Clara worked as a substitute teacher
