Clarkson, Mary Ellen (Kempter) Johnson was born December 11, 1917 in Sabula,<br />

Iowa and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Fay Albright and Clara Regina (Hute) Kempter. She<br />

married Alvin Bert Johnson on October 13, 1935 in Sabula and ten children were born<br />

to this union: Leslie Alvin Johnson, Alvina Jean (Johnson) Jordan, Wayne William<br />

Johnson, Shirley Kay (Johnson) Gusl<strong>of</strong>f, Sharon Fay (Johnson) Matous, Roger Ray<br />

Johnson, Melvin Lee Johnson, Calvin Lynn Johnson, Connie Sue (Johnson) Richards,<br />

and Dalvin Leo Johnson. Alvin died in 1965 and she married Mark Wayne Clarkson on<br />

February 26, 1969 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and this union gave her ten step-children: Marjorie Ann<br />

(Clarkson) Schultz, Janice RosaLee (Clarkson)Steele, Wayne Sherman Clarkson,<br />

William Frederick Clarkson, Bonnie Kay (Clarkson) Olson, Donald Lawrence Clarkson,<br />

Sandra Ruth (Clarkson) Harkness, Kathy Lee (Clarkson) Winter, Norman LaVerne<br />

Clarkson, Mark Allen Clarkson Jr. Mary was a homemaker and operated the Mill City<br />

Tap in <strong>Hanover</strong> with her husband Mark from May 1967 until September 1973. Mary<br />

died June 10, 1987 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Sabula, Iowa.<br />

Clarkson, Robert “Rob” Sherman was born March 4, 1963 in Savanna, Illinois and<br />

was the son <strong>of</strong> Wayne Sherman & Elizabeth Ann (Ohms) Clarkson. He attended the<br />

Elizabeth High School and the Jo Daviess/Carroll AVC. He was a herdsman for Cold<br />

Spring Farms in <strong>Hanover</strong>. Rob died September 9, 1991 and is buried in Shepherd <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Hills Lutheran Cemetery, Schapville.<br />

Clarkson, Wayne Jr. was stillborn on December 13, 1982. He was the son <strong>of</strong> Wayne<br />

Sherman and Elizabeth Ann (Ohms) Clarkson. Wayne is buried in Schapville Lutheran<br />

Cemetery.<br />

Clevenger, Mildred Lucille (Mace) was born January 10, 1919 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the<br />

daughter <strong>of</strong> Earl Joseph and Florence Mildred (Smith) Mace. The family moved to<br />

Rockford in 1927. Mildred married Russell Carlyle Clevenger and one known son was<br />

born to this union. Her husband died in 1978 and Mildred died January 14, 1997 in San<br />

Jose, California.<br />

Cliff, Brian Scott was born October 25, 1956 in Savanna, Illinois and was the son <strong>of</strong><br />

Harland Wayne and Audrey May (Gamble) Cliff. He graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High<br />

School in 1974 and served in the U. S. Army. Brian worked for the United States Post<br />

Office and later moved to Celina, Texas. Brian died November 2, 2005 in Texas and a<br />

memorial service was held in <strong>Hanover</strong>.<br />

Cliff, Charles Raymond was born November 25, 1890 and was the son <strong>of</strong> Richard<br />

Henry and Hattie “Dot” (Cole) Cliff. He graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High School in<br />

1910. After graduation he lived in the Stephenson, County, Illinois communities <strong>of</strong><br />

Winslow and Kent. Charles and his wife Irene W. Cliff had six known children: Cecile<br />

A. Cliff, Charles P. Cliff, R. Albert Cliff, Ila E. Cliff, Vada J. Cliff, and Robert L. Cliff.<br />

In 1930 the family was living in Stockton and Charles was working on the railroad.<br />

Charles died on May 29, 1959 in Wisconsin.<br />

Cliff, George Cottral was born August 22, 1908 in <strong>Hanover</strong> Township and was the son<br />

<strong>of</strong> Richard Henry and Hattie Dot (Cole) Cliff. He graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High School<br />

in 1926. He was married to Helen K. Cliff and in the 1930s they were living in<br />

Freeport, Illinois. They also lived in Calumet City, Illinois and later moved to Sebring,<br />

Florida. George died February 26, 1990.<br />

Cliff, Harland Wayne was born September 16, 1927 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the son <strong>of</strong><br />

Richard August and Grace Edna (Sandlin) Cliff. He graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High<br />
