Eberhardt and John Franklin Hanny. Della was an accomplished piano and organ player<br />

and she and her husband first opened Dreamland Movie Theater in the <strong>Hanover</strong><br />

Township Hall in 1936. They sold the business for a few years, but later re-opened it<br />

and operated it until 1956. Della died August 16, 2000 and is buried in Evergreen<br />

Cemetery.<br />

Hanny, John “Jack” Franklin was born June 16, 1933 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the son <strong>of</strong><br />

Benjamin Franklin and Della Marie (Kirkey) Hanny. He graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High<br />

School in 1951 and graduated from the University <strong>of</strong> Wisconsin, Platteville. Jack<br />

served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Norma Jean Dawe and<br />

three children were born to this union: Gregory “Greg” John Hanny, Susan Lenora<br />

(Hanny) Moneypenny, and Kelly Jean (Hanny) Fox. In 1959 they moved to Dayton,<br />

Ohio where he worked for National Cash Register in Chemical Research and<br />

Development for 20 years, patenting many formulations and working with NASA to<br />

develop suitable compounds for space exploration. His career then took him to Racine,<br />

Wisconsin to serve as General Manager <strong>of</strong> Printing Development Incorporated from<br />

which he retired in 1989. They moved back to the area and lived in Elizabeth. Jack died<br />

November 22, 2003.<br />

Hanson, Oliver “Ollie” Sylvester was born October 29, 1944 in Tucumcari, New<br />

Mexico and was the son <strong>of</strong> Oliver Sylvster and Hazel B. (LaShelle) Hanson Sr. He<br />

graduated from Savanna High School in 1963. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran.<br />

Ollie was married and had two children: Michael Hanson and Andrea Kay Hanson.<br />

Ollie moved to <strong>Hanover</strong> and married Marcia Jean (Duffy) Nolan on June 20, 1987 and<br />

this union gave him two stepchildren: Robert “Bob” Allen Nolan and Tricia Lynn<br />

(Nolan) Brown. Ollie worked for the Milwaukee Railroad, Soo Railroad, CP and I & M<br />

Rail Link until he retired in February 2000. Ollie lived in <strong>Hanover</strong> for a number <strong>of</strong><br />

years before he died on October 1, 2009. He is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Haring, Geneva Minnie (Kaufman) was born October 27, 1910 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was<br />

the daughter <strong>of</strong> Charles Alvin and Sadie Ellen (Wells) Kaufman. She graduated from<br />

<strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1929 and attended the University <strong>of</strong> Dubuque and received her<br />

master’s degree from the University <strong>of</strong> Wisconsin-Platteville. Geneva taught school in<br />

various country schools in the <strong>Hanover</strong> and Elizabeth area. She taught in Albany, Port<br />

Byron and Fulton before she retired in 1980. Geneva married Harold Francis Haring on<br />

December 26, 1939 in the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa and one son was born to<br />

this union: Tommy F. Haring. Geneva and Harold later divorced. Geneva died<br />

November 18, 2005 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Haring, Harold Francis was born August 14, 1910 in Derinda Township, Jo Daviess<br />

County and was the son Albert and Mary (Groezinger) Haring. Harold married, and later<br />

divorced, Geneva Minnie Kaufman on December 26, 1939 and one son was born to this<br />

union: Tommy “Tom” Francis Haring. Harold later married Murieta Jean Gamble on<br />

April 2, 1947 in Savanna and one son was born to this union: Jerry Blaine Haring.<br />

Harold was a retired farmer and was the president <strong>Hanover</strong> Fire Department Board.<br />

Harold died March 5, 1987 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Haring, Murieta Jean (Gamble) was born May 16, 1926 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the<br />

daughter <strong>of</strong> Floyd Melvin and Myrtle L. (Schaible) Gamble. She married Harold<br />

Francis Haring on April 2, 1947 and this union gave her one stepson Tommy “Tom”<br />

Francis, and one son was born to this union: Jerry Blaine Haring. Murieta died<br />
