The family moved to <strong>Hanover</strong> in February 1942 when Harold began working at the<br />
Savanna Army Depot. Harold was the scoutmaster for <strong>Hanover</strong>’s Boy Scout troop 36<br />
from the late 1940s until the early 1950s. He later operated the <strong>Hanover</strong> Sinclair Station<br />
from 1959 until 1968. He was a charter member <strong>of</strong> the St. Paul Lutheran Church in<br />
<strong>Hanover</strong>. Harold late moved to San Diego, California to live near his son. Harold died<br />
in San Diego on May 19, 1981. He was cremated and his ashes were returned to Keota,<br />
Iowa for burial.<br />
Harm, John “Jack” Fredrick was born September 11, 1926 in Cook County, Illinois<br />
and was the son <strong>of</strong> Otto J. and Anna Harm. The family moved from Wood River,<br />
Illinois to <strong>Hanover</strong> in 1943 and Jack graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1944.<br />
Jack died November 16, 1998 in Clay, New York.<br />
Harms, Peter J. was born June 15, 1927 in Bryan, Iowa and was the son <strong>of</strong> Peter M.<br />
and Anna C. (Frahm) Harms. He was married to Annabelle Aitkens and one son was<br />
born to this union: Dale Harms. Pete farmed in the <strong>Hanover</strong> area until 1964. After that<br />
he started working for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad in Clinton, Iowa and he<br />
worked there for 27 years. Pete died March 22, 2005 and his funeral was held in<br />
<strong>Hanover</strong>.<br />
Harris, Irene Agnes (Peters) Reifsteck was born February 24, 1907 in Dubuque, Iowa<br />
and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> John and Frieda (Thiemig) Peters. She lived in <strong>Hanover</strong> and<br />
was employed as a bookkeeper at the Savanna Army Depot for many years before she<br />
retired. Irene was married to Walter Andrew Reifsteck until he died in 1953; she later<br />
married Thomas B. Harris on July 2, 1970 in The Little Brown Church in the Vale in<br />
Nashua, Iowa. Irene died September 29, 1991 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />
Harris, Thomas B. was born January 17, 1907 in Clinton, Iowa and was the son <strong>of</strong><br />
James Berten and Ada Jane (Kennedy) Harris. He married Erma Madeline (Miller)<br />
Rowley on October 24, 1938 in Muscatine, Iowa and this union gave him one<br />
stepdaughter: Rose Elizabeth (Rowley) Diadiun. Erma died November 29, 1969 and he<br />
married Irene Agnes (Peters) Reifsteck on July 2, 1970 in Nashua, Iowa. He retired as a<br />
truck driver from the Savanna Army Depot and later drove bus for Scenic Stage Lines.<br />
Thomas died June 12, 1984 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />
Harstick, Alverda Adalade (Reichwein) was born December 18, 1903 in Bellevue,<br />
Iowa and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Ernest Christopher and Christina (Yeager) Reichwein.<br />
She married Ward Lee Harstick on August 12, 1922 in Dubuque, Iowa and one son was<br />
born to this union: Ward LeRoy Harstick Jr.. She worked at the <strong>Hanover</strong> Woolen Mill<br />
and at the Savanna Army Depot as an ammunition handler. Alverda was living in<br />
Clinton, Iowa when she died on March 1, 2002 and she is buried in Evergreen<br />
Cemetery.<br />
Hastings, Allen Lee was born February 25, 1943 in Savanna, Illinois and was the son <strong>of</strong><br />
Merle and Evelyn (Noble) Hastings. He married Vicky Lynn Pash on December 7,<br />
1963 in Savanna and two children were born to this union: Todd Allen Hastings and<br />
Kimberly Kaye (Hastings) Ertmer. They lived in <strong>Hanover</strong> for many years and Allen<br />
worked 32 years for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad as a truck driver and section<br />
laborer. Allen died November 11, 2002 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />
Hatfield, Charles John Gordon was born November 23, 1915 in Savanna, Illinois and<br />
was the son <strong>of</strong> Charles John and Anna Matilda (Diehl) Hatfield. He graduated from<br />
<strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1932. Gordon married Geraldine Kuhns on January 20, 1938<br />
