and was the daughter of Bennett and Lola Montez (Green) Hammen. She married Frank
Roy Richmond on May 15, 1917 in Mt. Carroll and three sons were born to this union:
Franklin L. Richmond, Leroy Ray Richmond and Robert Eugene Richmond. Lydia died
July 21, 1980 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.
Richmond, Robert “Bob” Eugene was born April 10, 1924 in rural Hanover and was
the son of Frank Roy and Lydia V. (Hammen) Richmond. He graduated from Hanover
High School in 1942. Bob was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran. He married Eileen
Gertrude Henschel on January 2, 1947 in Hanover and six children were born to this
union: JoAnn (Richmond) Nolan, David Robert Richmond, Thomas “Tom” Robert
Richmond, Todd James Richmond, Richard “Dick” Michael Richmond, and Cynthia
“Cindy” Ann (Richmond) Bellmann. He was a farmer his entire life. Bob served on the
Hanover School Board for 24 years. Bob died February 9, 2001 and is buried in
Evergreen Cemetery.
Ries, Kenneth John was born January 21, 1951 in Monticello, Iowa and was the son of
Wilfred J. and Elsie (Wilgenbusch) Ries. He graduated from Western Dubuque Schools
in 1969. Ken served in the United States Army Reserves from 1971 until 1977. Ken
was married to Maureen Ries and three children were born to this union: Josh Ries,
Heidi Ries, and Nic Ries. The family lived in rural Hanover for a few years before
moving to Cascade, Iowa. Ken was a car salesman at Dan Kruse Pontiac in Dubuque,
Iowa for a number of years. Ken died September 25, 2005 and is buried in Calvary
Cemetery, Cascade.
Ritchie, Lyda Ann (Cliff) was born October 21, 1898 in Hanover and was the daughter
of Richard Henry and Hattie “Dot” (Cole) Cliff. She graduated from Hanover High
School in 1917. She lived in rural Hanover. Lyda married Clifford Albert Ritchie on
June 1, 1921 in Galena and they raised one son: William Cliff. The family lived in
Savanna for many years. Clifford was born June 1, 1895. He was a World War I U.S.
Army Veteran and he worked as an electrician at the Savanna Ordnance Depot. Clifford
died February 20, 1975 and Lyda died March 3, 1991 and they are both buried in
Savanna Township Cemetery.
Robertson, Judith Ellen (Fisher) was born September 16, 1947 in Cairo, Illinois and
was the daughter of Robert Marvin and Mary Madeline (Holmes) Fisher. She married
Marlin Robert Lee Robertson Sr. on October 23, 1980. She had six children: James
Fisher Henkins, Robert Edward Henkins, Jack Charles “Charlie” Henkins, Rebecca
Lynn Henkins, Leanna Fern (Henkins) Miller, and Gary Dewane Henkins. She also had
three stepsons: Robert Robertson, Marlin Robertson Jr., and Donald Robertson. Judith
was employed for 14 years with Eaton Corporation in Hanover. She died January 17,
2000 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.
Robertson, Ruth Kay (Cavanna) was born August 9, 1947 in Rochelle, Illinois and
was the daughter of Joseph J. and Ella L. (Van Hise) Cavanna. She was married to
Marlin Robert Lee Robertson Sr., in Oregon, Illinois and three sons were born to this
union: Robert Robertson, Marlin Robertson Jr., and Donald Robertson. She also had
six stepchildren: James Henkins, Robert Edward Henkins, Jack Charles “Charlie”
Henkins, Rebecca Lynn Henkins, Leanna Fern (Henkins) Miller, and Gary Dewane
Henkins. Ruth lived in Hanover for a number of years and worked for Eaton
Corporation for 15 years. Ruth died June 17, 2005 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.
