Haring, Tommy “Tom” Francis was born December 21, 1942 in Savanna, Illinois and<br />

was the son <strong>of</strong> Harold Francis and Geneva Minnie (Kaufman) Haring. Tom graduated<br />

from Fulton High School in 1960. He married Rosemary Bernice Leighton on<br />

September 29, 1962 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and four children were born to this union: Jody Robert<br />

Haring, Brenda Kay (Haring) Carafano, Tommy Francis Haring Jr., and Christopher<br />

“Chris” Patrick Haring. Tom was a foreman at Eaton Corporation in <strong>Hanover</strong> for many<br />

years and he also worked at the Savanna Army Depot, <strong>Hanover</strong>’s VFW, Adam’s Garage<br />

in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was an electrician for Union Pacific Railroad in the car shop in De Soto,<br />

Missouri for four years. Tom died April 9, 2000 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Harkness, Alden “Budge” Harold was born May 3, 1914 in Blanding, Jo Daviess<br />

County and was the son <strong>of</strong> James Harold and Anna (Schoenfeldt) Harkness. He married<br />

Alma Rebecca Margaret Hocking on January 9, 1937 in Elizabeth and seven children<br />

were born to this union: Jean Ann (Harkness) Brown, William Harold Harkness,<br />

Patricia Marie (Harkness) Moreau, Kenneth Laurence Harkness, Sheila LaVonnie<br />

(Harkness) Tiegs, Donna Kay (Harkness) Stotler, and Nina May (Harkness) Richmond.<br />

Budge was a weaver at the <strong>Hanover</strong> Woolen Mill for six years before he started working<br />

as a munitions handler at the Savanna Army Depot for 30 years. He retired June 29,<br />

1973. In his earlier years Budge was a musician in the Wolf Creek Ramblers Dance<br />

Band, where he played the mouth organ and guitar. Budge died October 14, 1996 and is<br />

buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Harkness, Alma Rebecca Margaret (Hocking) was born October 23, 1915 in Vinegar<br />

Hill Township, Jo Daviess County and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> William John and Nettie<br />

Estella (Walton) Hocking. She married Alden “Budge” Harold Harkness on January 9,<br />

1937 in Elizabeth and seven children were born to this union: Jean Ann (Harkness)<br />

Brown, William Harold Harkness, Patricia Marie (Harkness) Moreau, Kenneth Laurence<br />

Harkness, Sheila LaVonnie (Harkness) Tiegs, Donna Kay (Harkness) Stotler, and Nina<br />

May (Harkness) Richmond. Alma worked at the <strong>Hanover</strong> Café for many years. Alma<br />

died September 1, 2000 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Harkness, Daniel Boone was born March 10, 1894 in Elizabeth Township, Jo Daviess<br />

County and was the son <strong>of</strong> Benjamin J. and Harriett “Hattie” Catherine (Hitchcock)<br />

Harkness. He married Jessie R. Smith on January 10, 1936 in Belvidere, Illinois. They<br />

raised three children: Jeanette Marie (Smith) Schaal, Betty Lou Harkness, and Robert<br />

“Bob” Lee Harkness. Daniel died February 21, 1985 and is buried in Evergreen<br />

Cemetery.<br />

Harkness, Harvey Chapman was born July 15, 1917 in rural <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the son<br />

<strong>of</strong> Clyde Thomas Harkness and Florence Mable (Chapman) Harkness-Bubser. He<br />

graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1936. He married Hazel Irene Virtue on April<br />

11, 1941 and five children were born to this union: David Harkness, Sue (Harkness)<br />

Williams, Duane Harkness, Doug Harkness, and Sandy (Harkness) Barnaby. The couple<br />

moved to DeKalb where he worked as a field supervisor for DelMonte Packaging.<br />

Hazel died in 1981; Harvey then retired and moved back to <strong>Hanover</strong>. Harvey married<br />

Luella Mae (Sanderson) Patterson on March 6, 1982 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and they lived in rural<br />

<strong>Hanover</strong>. This union gave Harvey four stepchildren: Robert “Bob” Leland Patterson,<br />

Judith “Judy” Lynn (Patterson) Vesely, Shirley Luella (Patterson) Dodson, and Richard<br />

“Dick” Raymond Patterson. Harvey died February 3, 2004 and is buried in DeKalb,<br />
