Steele, William Hugh was born July 22, 1917 in Minneapolis, Minnesota and was the<br />
son <strong>of</strong> Hugh Charles and Tessa Blanche (Taylor) Steele. He graduated from Northern<br />
State College, Aberdeen, South Dakota. William married Miriam Ruth (Jewett)<br />
Bracken on October 10, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri and this union gave him one<br />
stepson, William Bracken, and one daughter was born to this union: Jean (Steele)<br />
Stenhouse. They lived in rural <strong>Hanover</strong> for a number <strong>of</strong> years. William died September<br />
11, 1996 in San Marco, California. Cremation rites were accorded and his ashes were<br />
buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />
Steffes, LeVere L. was born July 3, 1924 in Massbach, Jo Daviess County and was the<br />
son <strong>of</strong> Fredrick “Fred” Raymond and Clara Rosella (Mattke) Steffes. He graduated<br />
from Stockton High School in 1942. LeVere married Lois Martha Gamble on July 15,<br />
1949 and three children were born to this union: Steven LeVere Steffes, Sherry Lorene<br />
Steffes, and Sheila Louise Steffes. LeVere farmed all his life in rural <strong>Hanover</strong> in<br />
Derinda township and Massbach. LeVere died February 16, 2008 and is buried in St.<br />
John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Massbach, Illinois.<br />
Steffes, Lois Martha (Gamble) was born June 30, 1928 in Derinda Township, Jo<br />
Daviess County and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Floyd Melvin and Myrtle L. (Schaible)<br />
Gamble. Lois graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1945. She married LeVere L.<br />
Steffes on July 15, 1949 in Massbach and three children were born to this union: Steven<br />
LeVere Steffes, Sherry Lorene Steffes, and Sheila Louise Steffes. Lois died April 3,<br />
1986 and is buried in Massbach Lutheran Cemetery.<br />
Stevenson, Terry Mason was born November 1, 1943 in Savanna, Illinois and was the<br />
son <strong>of</strong> Jack Edgar and Margaret “Peggy” Jane (Foster) Stevenson. He married Vinetta<br />
Lea Jeffers on June 25, 1966 in Dubuque and they had three children: Toni Renee<br />
(Jeffers) Wakeford, Shelley Jo Stevenson, and Erik John Stevenson. Terry was in<br />
construction for many years and worked for Yardley, Inc., building homes in the<br />
<strong>Hanover</strong> area. He died November 22, 1992 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />
Stewart, Lenora Verlin (Bills) was born May 27, 1910 in Chicago, Illinois and was the<br />
daughter <strong>of</strong> Everett Henry and Pearl Grace (Mauck) Bills. She married John Stewart on<br />
December 24, 1931 in LeClaire, Iowa and eight children were born to this union:<br />
Catherine (Stewart) Richards, Louise (Stewart) Weaks, William Stewart, Robert<br />
Stewart, Everett Stewart, Betty Stewart, Frederick Stewart, and Glenn Stewart. Also<br />
eight stepchildren from John’s first marriage: Margaret (Stewart) Anderson, John<br />
Stewart, Raymond Stewart, Norman Kirk Stewart, Amy (Stewart) Fahlen, Albert<br />
Stewart, Chester Stewart, and Violet Stewart. They farmed in the <strong>Hanover</strong> area for a<br />
number <strong>of</strong> years. Lenora was living in Savanna when she died on October 20, 1984.<br />
She is buried in the Savanna Township Cemetery.<br />
Stewart, Neil Craig was born June 15, 1951 in Savanna, Illinois and was the son <strong>of</strong><br />
Norman Kirk and Nona Louise (Campbell) Stewart. He graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High<br />
School in 1969 and served as President <strong>of</strong> his class. He served in the National Guard<br />
from 1970 until 1976. Neil married Carolyn Lea (Haas) Wotipka on November 26,<br />
1976 in Rockton, Illinois and this union gave him two stepdaughters: Michelle<br />
(Wotipka) Anderson and Kimberly (Wotipka) Sparks, and two children were born to<br />
this union: Craig Stewart and Shannon Stewart. Neil was a warehouse worker and a<br />
truck driver for Werhane Enterprises, John Knobel, and Moring Disposal. Neil had been<br />
living in Lena for many years. Neil died July 10, 2002; he was cremated and his ashes
