daughters were born to this union: Joanne Lenoir (Burns) Scarpati, Miriam Jean (Burns)<br />

Fishburn, Barbara Bea (Burns) Wood, Nancy Lee Burns, and Diane Elaine Burns. They<br />

lived in <strong>Hanover</strong> for many years and later moved to Freeport. In 1965 they moved to<br />

Sebring, Florida. Miriam died May 10, 1997 in Sebring.<br />

Bush, Alma Jean (Johnson) was born April 2, 1932 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the daughter<br />

<strong>of</strong> Robert and Myrtle C. (Greene) Johnson. She graduated from Galena High School in<br />

1950. Jean married Robert K. Bush on June 16, 1951 and four children were born to<br />

this union: Bruce O. Bush, Linda L. (Bush) Klar, Ranee S. (Bush) Maher, and Robert<br />

“Danny” Bush. The family lived in Dubuque for many years and Jean worked for<br />

Georgia-Pacific until she retired in 1994. Jean died October 3, 2000 in Dubuque and is<br />

buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Busjahn, Violetta Mae (Campbell) Follmann was born December 30, 1917 in<br />

<strong>Hanover</strong> Township and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Sam Wilson and Ethel (Sanderson)<br />

Campbell. She graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1935. She later moved to<br />

Freeport, Illinois and graduated from St. Francis School <strong>of</strong> Nursing. Violetta was a<br />

registered nurse at St. Francis Hospital and worked for Doctors Doelker, Giovanellie<br />

and Clark until she retired. She married Fred S. Follmann on March 27, 1940 and one<br />

daughter was born to this union: Trina (Follmann) Gordon. Her husband Fred died<br />

August 23, 1963. She married Ray M. Busjahn on July 9, 1966 and this union gave her<br />

one stepson: Glenn Busjahn. Violetta died April 2, 2000 in Freeport.<br />

Buske, Ila Maria (Potter) was born March 1, 1938 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the daughter <strong>of</strong><br />

Robert Harold “Chris” and Geraldine Helen (McDowell) Potter. She graduated from<br />

<strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1955. Ila married Jimmie “Jim” Buske on June 19, 1960 in<br />

Stockton and three children were born to this union: Andy Buske, Pam (Buske) Gottler,<br />

and Jason Buske. The family lived in Stockton for many years and later moved to<br />

Rockton, Illinois. Ila died March 22, 1989 and is buried in Ladies Union Cemetery,<br />

Stockton.<br />

Bussan, Joseph “Joe” Edwin was born August 12, 1912 in Galena, Illinois and was the<br />

son <strong>of</strong> Clement Edward and Anna Helena (Kieffer) Bussan. He married Gertrude Rose<br />

Reitz in Galena and four children were born to this union: Helen Catherin (Bussan)<br />

Gaber, Joan Marie (Bussan) Smith, Barbara Loucille (Bussan) Swingle, and Herbert<br />

“Herb” Joseph Bussan. The family lived in <strong>Hanover</strong> in the early 1950s for four years<br />

and later moved to Carroll County. The couple divorced in 1954 and Joe moved back to<br />

Galena. Joe died November 18, 2008 and is buried in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Galena.<br />

Byers, Ruth Francine “Fran” (Richards) was born September 14, 1924 in<br />

Montezuma, Iowa and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Norval B. and Neva Roberta (Kirby)<br />

Richards and was raised by Nile and Neva Roberta (Kirby) Hutchinson. She graduated<br />

from Montezuma High School in 1942. Fran married Samuel “Sam” Keith Byers on<br />

May 22, 1943 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and one daughter was born to this union:<br />

Pamela “Pam” Ruth (Byers) Miller. Fran worked for Maytag in Newton, Iowa during<br />

the war. The family later moved to Decorah, Iowa, Sauk City, Wisconsin, Maquoketa,<br />

Iowa and then to Galena in 1962. She and Sam were the resident publishers <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Galena Gazette until 1985. Fran died July 20, 2009 and is buried in Evergreen<br />

Cemetery.<br />

Byers, Samuel “Sam” Keith was born November 13, 1923 in New London, Iowa and<br />

was the son <strong>of</strong> <strong>Home</strong>r Albert and Gertrude Emma (Jacobs) Byers. He grew up in<br />
